I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

The Hornchurch Massive on YT is saying Moyes is open for a return.! 

I think Moyes till the end of the season would be palatable enough. Just to ensure that we maintain our PL status.

Then in the summer have another go at appointing someone new.

Totally mindblowing. The very reason the squad is in disarray, and that our ability to switch style of play is so lacking.

If Moyes came back I'd have to transition to watching us on whatever the current incarnation of Teletext is. Maybe one of those bookies match visualisation screens.

Russ, if they do the analysis on Carrick and look at the data ( players profiles he inherited, added, possession stats etc etc) it should help to mitigate the risk. My point is more that Sullivan does not appoint as far as we know ( or didnt in past years ) based on a dossier of research. More agent tecommendations or gut feel

Latest trend by all the speculating web sites and journos is Potter or Carrick.

I can see why they might think that based on Sullivan.  He will now think he needs to go back to his default appointment profile an English coach or manager.  Full circle.  I suppose these 2 are more progressive than his Allardyce, Moyes “safe hands” types but no real guarantee of improvement. They cant do worse?  Thats hopefully the case but I suspect Sullivan prefers Carrick as its a “populist” appointment aimed at getting fans off his back. But suspect no data analysis again to back it up. Carrick unproven in the Premiership and Potter only successful at a club that had a philisophy and recruitment policies that drive everything.  

I would prefer to trust data and a manager or coach with success at multiple clubs with limited or finite resources.  A coach who is tactically flexible, develops players, brings youth thru where possible. One that will fit the tactics and style tjat best fits the available squad.  Yes we want entertainment etc. but you are better to develop that on the foundation of getting a few results first.  

I hope Sullivan ensures some background checks and analysis is done but suspect he will trust his judgement again which is quite frankly appalling. I mean he appointed Loppy, famed for a tight defensive set up and tactics, to implement possession based, attacking football with 8 new players of which 5 were identified independently by Sullivan and Steidten. That said, Loppys alleged recruits ( Rodriguez, Kilman and Soler) were hardly suited to a fast paced, energetic, athletic attacking set up in the Premiership.

Probability based on Sullivans tenure over 14 years suggests the next appointment has a 10-20% chance of success. ?

there's a condition called aphantasia. if you said "think of an apple" to them, they would think of the concept of an apple but couldn't actually picture it as their brains are wired in such a way that their imagination is limited purely to abstract thoughts.

The old tune that days “Things can only get better” doesn’t usually apply to clubs like West Ham.  You’ve got to have a proper DOF these days not a “half in, half out” Technical Director who is really like the old Head of Scouting.  Look at Brighton or Bournemouth for the model. Owners are the key and they implement processes based on making profit on players but also using data and player profile analysis to fit an overall philosophy of how the team will play. The coach is also sourced to fit the philiosophy.

There is none of this owner involvement using preferred agents and the board disagreeing. They should all be onboard with the process and program.

hence no success likely at West Ham. Anything we achieve will be a bonus but not expected.

I certainly wouldn't renew my son's and I's season tickets next year if Moyes returned again like a turd you can't flush.
