Football / Off Topic Forum Separation
In the next week or so, time allowing, I'm going to attempt a coherent implementation of an 'Off Topic' forum area separate to the 'Football' forum area since this is something that keeps coming up.
What is currently the 'Main Forum' will become the 'Football Forum'.
A new forum 'Off Topic' will be created and threads that are non-football will be moved to it.
To get a view of Active threads across forums, you'll be able to go to what is currently the 'West Ham Online' link in the breadcrumbs trail which will list the 50 most recently posted in threads across Football, Off Topic, and Tickets.
Some things to note:
1. Topic icons apply across all forums...nothing I can do about that so you'll see see all Topic icons in all locations.
2. To post into the relevant place, you'll have to be in that place (the topic gets posted in the forum in which you click the 'New Topic' button). Again not much I can do about that....just the way it works. If a mod sees a thread in the wrong place they can move it easily.
3. The change will be reversible if needs be, so suggest we give it a month and then canvas opinion on of it's better or worse.
4. Off Topic doesn't mean 'anything goes'...hijacking thread topics with non-relevant posts/bickering that isn't about the topic at hand will still see those posts get deleted. All other forum rules will apply.
If there's any thoughts or suggestions leave them on this thread.

Make it so they can only post once every half an hour and watch the quality of the forum drastically improve.
Some sort of sin bin would be better so they can still get it out of their system!. Any offenders get locked out of every thread except the sinbin for a day or two. Everyone else is allowed to anon post in there to wind them up further. they can come out when the repent and donate £1 to the WHO fund

I think that is a very good idea

Should be an ag ag ag button, with due copyrights to Gank, of course.

Re: Football / Off Topic Forum Separation
assuming we still have the option to see ALL threads? Otherwise switching between the 2 will be a pain in the arse, personally like to see most recently updated from both football and non football.
leave as is imo, don’t like thread title (politics etc) don't bother opening or if you do then don’t like then don’t open again, it ain’t difficult!
was going to suggest a “dislike” button
but unlike the “like” button, expect it would get abused (as would a cսnt button
) and so some on here would have been disliked thousands of times

within a few weeks……….

Re: Football / Off Topic Forum Separation
There is a clear need for an Attention Seekers folder/function, linked to a "Look-at-Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" button.
As soon as 5 different posters identify a given post/thread as attention-seeking twaddle, said thread/post becomes festooned with animated balloons, streamers and fireworks while the background flickers unfeasibly quickly through a range of vivid, vomit-inducing colours.
The attention sought would then be provably and publicly achieved.

Re: Football / Off Topic Forum Separation
Whilst there were always a few threads which straddled football/ non-football, I thought that the two forum approach (or at least splitting between football and non-football) always had benefits.
Meant we could bicker, do acronyms/ other social stuff as a respite from West Ham without attracting (all that many) "what the fuck has this got to do with football?" comments
TLDR - I support this

Bad idea IMO, but ultimately I am more worried about my yogurt in the fridge going out of date. Now that there is one thread for the political experts among us I'd leave it alone. At least Oxsaw will be happy though!
As for an Ag button, I'd probably top myself if I had suggested that.

I can look into it. Some have said 'Likes' aren't very 'WHO'...maybe 'Ags' would be more appropriate?

Re: Football / Off Topic Forum Separation
Can we have an ‘Ag’ button? Maybe something similar to a laughing emoji.
Despite the levels of humorous posts declining in recent years, there’s still some hidden gems that deserve a laughing response rather than just a ‘like’
