We stayed up whilst winning a european trophy then improved our position in the league the following season. Albeit some poor performances and a lot of good ones

Apart from all those trophies we’ve won you mean? I’d have thought being English you’re used to mediocrity & failure.

Re: Gary !
Thinking more about Wolves sacking O'Neil right now, it makes sense for Moyes to go there. Dyche doesn't look like losing his job at Everton whilst he digs out battling 0-0 performances at Arsenal successfully keeping them outside the bottom 3. And there's little chance of waiting for a much better gig now that jobs have either already been taken up or unavailable.
And it's not like Wolves are cast adrift on 9 points after 16 games. Lopetegui for instance managed to keep Wolves up after taking them over after 16 games and just 10 points on the board at the time. He got them to finish 14th, ironically 1 place above Moyes West Ham at the time.
Albeit they lost direction and discipline under O'Neil near the end, there is still plenty to work with at Wolves including trusted experienced Defenders like Dawson who he previously worked with. Wolves is the realistic job he should be taking on if he wants to get back in to managing again in the Premier League.

the only derangement is wanting GoN as our manager, or thinking 20 league defeats in a season is somehow acceptable.

Thank fuck Moyes is gone as I couldn't stomach any more gutless, allergic to the ball Football and he's so revered in the game that he's still out of a job.

Lets be honest, you thought Leverkusen was a semi final - it wasn’t.
Why would he have to keep up a team that was never in the relegation zone?
Season 3 - kept us up? I should hope so after dropping a few hundred million on players.
Season 4 you’re just making excuses for piss poor performances.
Nobody is happy when the team is getting beat, let’s not pretend otherwise.
And nobody “hounded” him out, he was offered a new contract which he didn’t like the terms of.Why can't i? Says who? Do you make the rules? I shit you not grass, you don't. So yes 2 Semi finals 1 leading to a final. Lets's be honest you would hold us in the same breath as Real Madrid wouldn't you? So unrealistic.
When Pellegrini left we were on a downward spiral to the bottom. So yes he kept us up.
Were we fighting to stay up in the 3rd season under moyes, yes or no?
Season 4
You call beating Chelsea and Utd at home, Spuds away, Arsenal away, a very good point at home to Liverpool. Piss poor performances? Wow grass!.
Losing to Fulham, Chelsea Palace away were piss poor. Typical modern.
Yes he was hounded out, i believe it was the away game we beat fulham 1-0 the moyes out banner made the appearence.
Leverkusen beat us and i remember the fans applauding them off because they gave everything, same out in frankfurt and seville. As i said the old west ham i knew were happy if the team gave their all.

matching someone else’s results almost exactly is not keeping us up.
piss poor performances losing to Everton, 4-1 at villa, 5-0 at Fulham, 0-6 v arsenal, 0-3 at MU, 0-2 at Forest, 0-2 at home to Fulham, 2-5 at palace, 0-5 at Chelsea.
the Moyes out banner was the previous season at Fulham, so no he wasn’t hounded out.
Don't play dumb grass. You know what you are doing.
As i said "only happy if we are winning" every game. Here is a reality check we are not going to win every game, soon as you understand this the happier you will be. I remember getting battered in successive away games 5-0 at everton, 7-1 at blackburn, guess what it happens.
The players stopped playing for pellegrini.
That's what i said the moyes banner came out then and was hounded out since.

Yeah 2 semi finals. Every west ham fan should know and remember. Frankfurt & AZ Alkmaar.
First Half season in job was to keep us up, he succeeded.
Following two seasons one without/with europe brilliant 6th and 7th, great counter attacking football, in teams faces, defense solid gave our all.
3rd season we struggled, dodgy VAR decisions? teams figured us out? The previous european campaign caught up with us? Who knows. Still kept us up, and a first trophy in 43 years!!
4th season
Fantastic start 6th going into the new year then the contract debacle came up. Moyes annoyed to having to relinquish control over the running off things such as transfers etc understandable but also lost us a lot of profit in player sales. That is where it unraveled. Was it time to move on, probably but certainly not the way he was hounded out.You can’t say two semi finals and 1 final. It’s 1 semi final and 1 final.

First half season he mirrored the performance of Pellegrini (which got Pellegrini sacked).
Following two seasons were very good, but let’s also remember that he has been backed like no other West Ham manager.
Season 3 league form was abysmal. Twenty league defeats. The conference league kept him in a job.
Season 4 started okay but quickly went to shit post Xmas. 74 league goals conceded. 4 league victories between January and May.
He spent over £400m building an aging squad which had the worst defence outside the bottom 3. A passive team which was far too easy to play against. As i said only happy if we are winning. We are not going to win every single game and have good seadons year in year out.

3 out of 4 top half finishes.
Turning over chelsea and spuds occasionly
quarter finals of domestic competitions.
My only gripe with moyes was not utilising all the players at his disposal and not fully integrating youth2 semi finals?

Moyes kept his job because he won that trophy, otherwise he was gone. Our league form was awful that season. Same for January onwards the following season. Across a two year period the league form just wasn’t good enough. And the problem was the number of goals conceded. Simple.
Not one person on here wanted Lopetegui. I’ve been generally supportive of him because he’s our manager, but the first 15 games simply haven’t been good enough. If you’re happy with mediocrity then that’s your problem.Lyall, greenwood - West ham, jim mclean - Dundee United, Brian Clough - Derby & Forest. Let me know if you want more.

Exactly this. The reason I couldn't stand Moyes. Just passive. Totally fine with playing on the counter, but the totally passive, inferiority complex style of out of possession stuff...was just appalling to sit through game after game.
If he'd had a bit more fight in the team, he could have stayed and been a true West Ham legend. But his full on 'retreat mode' was not what this Club is about.

Re: Gary !
Have to say I do think there was a time when it was ok for West Ham to finish anywhere between 5th and 15th...Redknapp era for example, and in the pre-Premier League days when being outside the top flight wasn't a death sentence, yo-yo-ing was no big deal.
I think the move to the Olympic Stadium has changed expectation. Sullivan has raised expectation to a level he can't deliver against. He's told us we should be competing for Europe every year. He's told us we sold our family silver in order to move up a level.
If we were still playing in front of 40k in the grubby streets of East London, with a caravan park owner in charge, we'd be about the football and the main aim of staying in the league, with hopes for good seasons now and then, and expectations of bad seasons. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest frankly aren't a bad comparison there.
But the move changed all that. Big new stadium, expansive setting, promise of 'next level', a couple seasons in Europe, and a trophy (all be it one we mocked until we were in it and winning it).
So now, it is all about more than just decent football and staying in the league...the expectation is always that we're 'pushing on to the next level'.
But in reality, 10th with some decent football thrown in that lets us get the 'ole's out here and there, a few mavericks that get us off our seats, singing 'dame old West Ham, taking the piss' etc....is probably still about our level. We're simply not a well enough run club to have expectations beyond that on a regular basis. Not setup for 'success'.
But Moyes had to go because he was a manager that if not delivering real success, couldn't deliver on the other bits to make it fun anymore. Allegri if by some miracle Sullivan coughed up for him would be the same. Potter on the other hand might get us back to our roots a little...playing decent stuff, the chance of the odd good season, but he lacks that sense of being a cockney laddish type. Bit of a 'nice guy's that probably doesn't sit right with the natives...no sense of humour.
If there was one manager in the league that fits with us, I reckon it's Ange. Swashbuckling football, Ozzie 'fuck'em' mentality, if you go down do it swinging etc. If there was one manager in the league I could cherry pick to come to West Ham, Postecoglu would be it.

Moyes won a european cup
as i said every manager as a unwanted record.
no not made up at all grass. You and your ilk were complaining about him being too safe. Hence the calls for a more front footed approach.
Which managers stayed in jobs because of their “rapport with fans”? That’s just some misty eyed nonsense.
You hounded moyes out, you got us lopetegui simple really.
All i want is a team that fight and die for the shirt, put their bodies on the line, get in the oppositions faces that is the west ham i use to know. Couldn't give a shit about records under a 2year spell, possesion all that bollox. Not changing my mind on this one grass. No matter how much it annoys you.
Lyall, Greenwood, Clough ALL won stuff. That’s why they had jobs.
West ham under Moyes did not get in the opposition’s faces. They were largely passive. You must have hated it.
