“There are talks” – Negotiations begin for West Ham player to become ‘luxury’ January signing

By Naveen Ullal

River Plate are looking to offer West Ham United’s Guido Rodríguez an escape route in the winter market, according to multiple claims.

The midfielder joined West Ham on a free transfer in the summer and was a regular under Julen Lopetegui’s orders until November’s international break.

Since then, the West Ham player clocked in 22 minutes from four games. Real Betis have been pushed forward as a contender, but have ruled out his return.

Journalist Hernán Castillo, relayed by Soy del Millo, claims River Plate want to sign him in January.

“There are talks between River and Guido Rodríguez,” he said.

The Argentina international previously had a spell at River Plate and they are working on bringing him back.

TN are also reporting about River Plate’s desire to sign the West Ham player next month. They signed Germán Pezzella and Marcos Acuña in the summer and now want to make Rodríguez as their third ‘luxury reinforcement’.

To do this, River Plate have ‘begun’ negotiations, and the report hasn’t made it clear if that’s with the Hammers or the 30-year-old.

West Ham, for their part, are willing to let the World Cup winner leave on loan or through a sale. Their aim is to try and find a solution that benefits both parties.
