I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

What I'm struggling to understand is, if Sully's sole ambition is simply to remain in the Prem and rake in the tv money, why has he sanctioned the 6th highest net transfer spend over the last 5 years (£276 million).

And if he's happy to invest that kind of money in the squad, why's he such a tight arse when it comes to getting a decent manager and paying some compo?

Sullivan doesn't rate managers, his ego thinks he would do a better job than any manager including Fergie, Guardiola. As long as they deliver the bare minimum and keep the golden goose safe.

We are in no danger of going down and we are not getting rid, you know how this works. This is the model at west ham under Sullivan and anything else is a bonus.

But I think we probably only need around 38 points to stay up in what is a very poor bottom third of the league. That’s just 15 more points: in a league with Southampton, Ipswich, Leicester, Wolves, Palace, Everton and…Man Utd!

I hope we improve massively, of course. But at this stage, my guess (purely that) would be that we’ll stumble through to 38-40 points or so. It will be shite, though.

Unless we find a couple of McAvennie & Ward style signings who shake things up and get the side going.

Purely a soundbite, nothing else. Sullivan isn’t man enough or honest enough to ever admit that he once again, appointed the wrong man.

Honestly, I've seen so many bad performances from West Ham over the years I'm surprised anyone can be shocked by any thing anymore. We've seen teams leagues below us beat us up, part time farmers in Europe destroy us. Under Moyes we got destroyed multiple times. Even last season Palace murdered us at their place (I was sadly sitting in the home end..). This is definitely not the worst I've ever seen us, not even near it really. 

I think people are upset because we're just going nowhere. Maybe thats why it's annoying. We won't be fighting relegation, we won't be getting into Europe and we dont seem to be getting any better at playing football. We have a manager no one asked for so no believes in whatever process or project is going on because it wasn't sold to us, it was just imposed.

So it just feels like a void, an empty season.

He aint getting sacked over a loss to Liverpool, thats for sure. So the only hope is a good transfer window where if he and Tim are worth anything, they need to identify the missing players to make this team tick.
What is good about the second half of the season is that most teams will know their safe by March and tend to let their foot off the gas. This is an ideal time to pick up points for any team that gets their act together. Chelsea did that last season for example.

Maybe we can do that? I dont think that would happen with a new manager though, still need the continuity I feel.
Also, makes wonder why Moyes' last 2 seasons he barely won a game in the second half of the season. Now that was shocking!

But it means I’ve pretty much written off this season. We’ll most like lose heavily, quite regularly, to decent sides while scraping the odd win against the shite sides - and there are enough of them for us, and Lopetegui, to survive.

But I’m really not expecting much from the rest of this season. Which is poor when you consider what we’ve spent and the position we were in after letting Moyes go. We’ve made a succession of poor decisions.

The big one now will probably be whether we move on from Lopetegui in the summer.

 

 

6 of our remaining away games are against sides that finished above us last season, so unless our home form improves it’s going to be a struggle to maintain the level we are at. Well, unless there is further investment, which at this point is just chucking even more money on the fire.

I’ve backed Lopetegui, and hope that we start to look like a team under him. But tonight that was absolutely shocking.

Clearly put AWB at left back to mark Salah - due to his reputation of being really good in 1v1 situations. Putting Emerson in front of him, who is not a winger, was comical. Surely Sumervillle should have been starting - at the very least that would have given us much more pace down that side.

Shameful lack of commitment on show.
