The Cherries are toying with a Champions League finish, while the Toffees are within spitting distance of a Championship finish. Home win.

Here’s a gilt-edged chance for Villa to move back to where they came from just a couple of months ago. It’s also a chance for Leicester to move back to where they came from last season. Both are likely to take their chances. Home win.

Chelsea may have lost their last two, but are way stronger their hosts. Palace are flirting with the drop and will continue their coquetry this afternoon. Away win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs WEST HAM UNITED (1500)
After a series of disastrous, uncharacteristic results, City find themselves blessed with a home fixture against West Ham. Sod’s Law, innit? No decent strikers and Jarrod Bowen out injured. City hinting at a recovery, of sorts. Need you hear more? No. Home win.

Well, at least you don’t support Southampton. Small mercies. The Bees are unlikely to extend such mercy this afternoon. Away win.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last six, but there are just two wins in that lot. Coincidentally, that’s the same number of wins that Ipswich have in their last six. Trouble is that the other four are all defeats. Best make that five from seven. Home win.

One win and five losses in their last six for the visitors. Oh dear. Well, at least they’re below us. The hosts come into this on the back of a 5-0 away win. Wankers. Home win.

Fair play the Geordies. Don't see Arsenal going up there and turning this around, 3-0 is a big ask. This is a very different Newcastle to the one we faced.

Hopefully, Liverpool can do what they did last month and score another six at that pit of misery when they play that other lot tomorrow night.

So why do all the stats suggest otherwise then? As a team we run less distance and make less sprints than other teams.

I'm on about specific games and highlighted a couple of examples when we haven't. The effort hasn't always been there but in some games it has. But to suggest there's not been effort this season is wide of the mark. 

I’m talking about the season as a whole. The odd game here & there are the exception not the rule.

There hasn’t been anywhere near enough effort in the majority of games.

Excellent in this one-off game. Their previous games against less glamorous fixtures is when they should be doing it too when they've put in horrific effort. That's Amorims challenge. 

 

I agree, but I'm not so much praising man u , rather denigrating us for never managing it. Most of our lot stroll about like it's a Sunday afternoon in the park.

I've seen the effort at times from us this season (and not enough effort vs Liverpool or Chelsea). Southampton, Ipswich, Palace, Bournemouth (twice), Leciester, Brighton, Wolves, Man Utd and Man City yesterday stick out. People can piss and moan about the quality which I agree we've lacked but the effort has been there at times this season.

Yes us and Southampton cannot defend and concede far too many.  I still believe the loss of Rice is a huge hole we failed to fill. It didnt notice in terms of results first half season of him leaving for Arsenal. We had got Alvarez and Kudus in and got some great results as we really rode our luck at Arsenal, Spurs away etc 

We miss Rice’s “legs” screening the defence. Bet we are not looking at that type of strong, athletic player for central midfield. But suspect it will make a difference even under Lops suicidal high line
