I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Unless there is a realistic top manager in the waiting in the summer, then appointing someone for 6 months is pointless.

I do wonder if concentrating on the striker situation is a red herring. 











 

 

 

It would make all the difference but it doesn't even have to be a world class Striker just one that stays regularly fit and bangs in the plentiful chances we already create. As a Team we now create a regular amount of chances. Take the weekend for instance, we created 17 at the Etihad. It's unheard of especially under the days of Moyes where we'd struggle to get out our own 6 yard box, let alone in to there's on a regular basis Saturday. Even against Liverpool we hit the woodwork 3 times but these efforts have got to start going in.

Ever since the Newcastle game we've made untold amounts of good goal scoring opportunities and it's about time we buried many of them, or get in someone who doesn't need a second invitation to score. Then that will relieve the pressure at the other end and not panic as much as we do defensively. 

I thought it was interesting that Guardiola in his post match interviews made a point of saying how fortunate they were to not be behind before they fluked one in, acknowledging how easily we were carving them open. Going forward and moving the ball at times we really were good bar the poor finishing. The way we play has definitely improved with the ball, however we still lack quality in key areas of the pitch in Goal when Areola plays, Mavropanos in defence and Alvarez as our DM. Fullkrug might be the answer up front, I just worry big time about his fitness and we haven't got all season or the arse end of lost games for him to find it.

I don't think Steidten is being scapegoated at all

I think he's had a relatively free run

Even the summer 23 signings that were previously lauded have been largely underwhelming this season and the summer 24 signings have been dreadful. As technical director he should've seen everything that any sane fan had seen.

If he felt undermined or disenfranchised then he should have had the balls to resign rather than give his brother a job

Sullivan gets control of transfers back if Steidten goes. The fact that Sullivan picked his manager and not the one Steidten wanted and that many of the transfers happened once Lop was appointed ( Lop wanted Kilman, Rodruiguez and Soler), I’d say Steidten is being made a scapegoat. Many people saw this coming. Classic Sullivan manouevre to deflect blame from himself. Fans on Kumb, C&H all lapping up this rumour and saying that Lop and Steidten had to go without realising Steidten was never properly empowered by Sullivan.  He maybnot have done a great job but after only 1 window as Tech Director he is well within his rights to say there were mitigating circumstances and that he was not allowed to do his job by a meddling, controlling owner?

Sure I read somewhere that Steidten has said he’s staying away from the training ground to do transfer business, and to allow Lopetegui to concentrate on football matters. Probably wrong.
