Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)

Post maverick180 »

I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

He had to go. Let's hope Potter is the answer. Mind you I have got to the point where I am pretty sure that there isn't anybody at West Ham that even knows what the question is!

We have had Sullivan's man, now standby for Brady's pick. I am not filled with optimism but looking forward to the change, I might even stay longer than 52min at the next home game. After all our next manager is a Wizard or have I got my Potters mixed up

It should have been Amorim all along but West Ham dicked about penny pinching. Now it ends up costing us a shit load in the end, anyway. Fucking braindead logic... 🥴

While I'm pleased to be rid of Lop who appears to have burnt out significant parts of his brain in his months with us, to hire a bloke with a worse CV who plays similar football is hardly time to get your dick out. Potter will have to go some to be worse than the last two cunts but what has he ever done? Fuck all! Can speak English I guess but what else? FUCK ALL. I'm just as underwhelmed by this as I was with Lopetegui.

What the fuck must the success criteria be given our season is effectively over and the bloke we've employed has never achieved anything? Keep us up? Unnecessary possession for stats purposes? Or just avoid burning out all your neural pathways and becoming a pale blinking vegetable?

Weird appointment, weird fucking contract and weird that people are coming out of the woodwork saying this English Lopetegui is the bloke we should have always employed but the Spanish Potter on the way out is the worst cսnt in the world.

Fuckin shambles. But at least there is temporary hope that something may be achieved this season. Progress or something. Anything. Please. Until Friday when it's extinguished by three clear goals.

Sullivan completed screwed up yet another managerial appointment by hiring this chump in the summer and we are now stuck with 'loser Lop's' dross in Kilman, Rodriguez and Soler.

I'd actually bin off Soler by cutting short his loan and get Ward-Prowse back early from his loan. Hopefully Potter will do this.

For someone who cries when ‘strangers’ on here post ‘abuse’ to you, it’s a bit ironic (and very immature and sad) for you to use disparaging words to describe Lopetegui.

Nobody wanted this to end badly, unless you had some sort of weird motivation to continually crow on about being right. Like a bad comedian who tells the same joke all the time, and the joke was never really funny anyway.

Most people were screaming for Moyes' head then. Just that Sullivan was too much of a pussy or cheapskate to pull the trigger at that time. After we lost to Leicester before the World cup i was amazed he didn't get the sack. He probably should have.

Exactly. It was only the form in Europe that kept Moyes in the job.

I don’t think it’s purely results and performances for why Lopetegui has been sacked. I think it’s compounded by so many players allegedly unhappy.

Postecoglou is proving to be the manager many felt he was all along: a flat-track bully who thrived in a two-horse race in Scotland (some would say it's a one-horse race).

His current approach does not translate to the Premier League and, most likely, he'll be out of a job at the end of the season.

You can play 2-1-7 or whatever the fuck he does in front of a gormless Scottish crowd, while thumping Arbroath at Celtic Park. But, as he's finding out, it's very different to do that away at Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle. Let alone the biggest clubs.

Neil Lennon has FIVE titles in Scotland. Gordon Strachan won titles in Scotland. I reckon with a prevailing wind, Lopetegui could win titles up there. It's a parade dominated by one huge side and another that is finding its feet again after a financial meltdown. Some games are little more than exhibition matches. Never trust a league that has to divide itself in two at some point, just so that sides in the bottom half stand a chance of winning some games.

I’m relieved this embarrassing saga is now over.

I don’t mind that we have already lined up a replacement.  I do mind that some cսnt keeps leaking all our business to the press. It could easily have jeopardised our plans.

It still potentially could but I don’t think so.

The problem is the league is relative. It's not just us on our own! There are a lot of big clubs with similar points totals as us for various reasons. So no, it's not a sackable offence in context.

The reasons for sacking him are more about not believing he has what it takes because he has not defined a clear style of play to make everyone think he's actually going somewhere. I maintain, that the job of the any West Ham manager is really to change the style of football so that it is more in line with everyone else i.e. possession based, attacking football

The reason being it is more sustainable, easier to recruit for and more enjoyable to watch regardless of the league position you end up in (as long as its not the bottom 3).

Ange is getting away with terrible results at Spurs because it's still good to watch and everyone knows what the philosophy is and has bought into it. Loppy is going seemingly because even though the points are similar no one knows what the fuck is going on and it looks a bit shit.

Postecoglu has also been very unlucky this season. Whereas Lopetegui has been extremely lucky in terms of results. Tottenham are one point ahead of West Ham but have a goal difference of +12 compared to West Ham's goal difference of -15.

Any fool should be able to see this. It seems even the footballing fools in the West Ham boardroom have woken up and smelled the coffee.
