​​​​​​In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.

Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.

He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.

Lets hope Sullivan lets Potter have some input into the recruitment and has not already got him a player or two as a gift via Salthouse, Silkman, Mackay etc as a “gift” like he did with BFS, Bilic, Moyes 

Potter’s identification of players will tell us where he sees weaknesses in the squad and obviously what positions. Also type of player might indicate if he is going to go all out on his possession and pressing tactics or he compromises to buy time to implement his preferred tactical system by having us play on the counter and with a mid block like several clubs are doing now in the Prem inclyding Forest. Would likely suit Fullkrug as a target up front but also Summerville and Kudus who are best with space to run into. Also Alvarez and the CBs wont be asked to step up into a pressing action ( they dont do it well and too slow in some cases ) and hence less prone to giving it away and being way too open.

Not going to see much for a few games though I would suspect?

Just being on the same page/having the same philosophy as TS would be a huge leg up from before. At least it'll only be a two way power struggle with them vs Sullivan and his fucking whims and his cronies rather than a struggle between all three of them.

Brighton under Potter became a bit of a bogey team for us iirc and part of the reason was they were much more physical. I wonder if we'll see a change in this direction and which, if any, players will not be up for it.

Player development of any sort will be most welcome.  I expect to see young men like Ings, Antonio, Fabianski, Cresswell, Fullkrug, Emerson, Areola, Coufal, Soucek transform the way they play

Being slightly more serious, if he could bring a few of the the recent successful U21 team thru into the first team and squad, it would gain him a lot of fan support.

initially it will just ve interesting to see if he implements a more pragmatic ( defend bit deeper in 4-2-4 or something) and look to counter rather than trying to play like a side that can dominate the possession and other teams. We dont have the players for it unless Salthouse and Sullivan surprse us all by bringing in a box to box midfielder etc in Jan.

Potter is a classic Head Coach...has never been responsible for player identification in his importand jobs (Brighton, Chelsea).

If anything he's more atuned ot the Steidten/Sullivan player picking model than Lopetegui.  He may be able to improve coaching, but not a chance he improved player identification.

Exactly as I felt with the odious Moyes departing and Lops arrival, I'm not conflating my joy with Potter's arrival  

Aside of the Chelsea debacle, I'm minded that prior to Potter leaving Brighton there were plenty of theirs wanting him out, seem to remember the complaint of conceding too many goals and couldn't organise a defence

I am actually looking forward to going to games again. Given some of the other awful names I have seen linked with us, I think this is a good appointment for where we are at right now. The fans need to get behind him and hopefully a bit of optimism can come back. Obviously I would have loved Silva but realistically he wouldn't leave Fulham for us right now. What Potter did in Sweden was amazing, did well at Swansea and Brighton. Chelsea was too big for him but I am sure he will do well for us. The football should hopefully improve but his main concern for now is sorting this mess of a defence out
