Switch to split Off-Topic Forum from Football Forum
We've made the decision to move to a split forum model of 'Football' and 'Off Topic'.
You can still view all the recently actove threads together in one place by going to 'All Forums', but this change will give us the flexibility to handle some of the more complicated moderation scenarios we're increasingly having to deal with (as well as helping those who want to keep the focus on football to avoid the noise).
The process isn't immediate....we've updated the menus, and will start to move the non-football threads over to the Off Topic area.
If you have any issues let us know, and whilst we know this isn't the choice of all of the sites members and will be unpopular with some, recent posting behaviours and events mean this change is necessary.

It was originally a notification announced at the top of the page while the change was taking place. It will get deleted very soon..

Re: Switch to split Off-Topic Forum from Football Forum
Moving threads is not that tough, it gives us the option to restrict access to football only for those that get carried away in the Off Topic section, and also for those who don't want to the noise to just zero in on the football.
I'm like you and pretty much just use 'All Threads'...I'm hoping to find a way to allow new thread creation directly from that page, as opposed to having to go to one of the specific forums first as otherwise I can see it being a barrier to new thread creation.
Like with all things on this site it's a bit 'suck it and see'.

Re: Switch to split Off-Topic Forum from Football Forum
Good work Stubbo, but won't it be tiring for someone to keep it updated all the while? That said, I don't suppose we get that many new threads these days.
I will still use 'all forums' a fair bit as I don't want to miss the news of somebody dying.

Thanks for your replies. I’d say if it’s do-able and not too much hassle, then go for it.

So somthing like the attached image is the art of the possible (all be it the actual icons used and the names of them I'm sure I could update).
It would remove all existing post like and post tallies of liked/likes though:

I'd like to, but it's not that straightforward to do. Will look into it though.
