Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)

Post maverick180 »

I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

I'd love for someone to interview Sullivan over his reasoning of picking Salthaouse's client Lopetegui.

Macari did cross my mind this week, a bit before my time though so if anyone who was around for that can compare the two I'd interested to read it!

Probably posted before but is he the manager with the shortest stay at West Ham? Lou Macari I think was 7 months.

From what I'm hearing on the High Performance Podcast interview with Graham Potter, he couldn't be more different to Lopetegui.

It doesn't sound like you will have the same drama because Potter cares about the players and wants to help them help themselves.  Apparently one of the reasons he got sacked from Chelsea was that he spent too much time looking after the players.

Anyone else seeing a pattern here?

Barking up the wrong tree. He was good friends with Antonio. Helped him out a lot. Even helped him fix the brakes on his car.

stubbo wrote: 09 Jan 2025, 21:05 Just been listening to the YouIrons podcast with Roshane Thomas from the Athletic describing Lopetegui's reign and everything going on behind the scenes.

Sounds like it's been a total shit show....in fact that was how a few players had described pre-season to him. Also one of the board wanted to sack him back in November!

Can't be assed to list it all now, but confirmed punches were thrown between him and Todibo, that he played Todibo against advice from the medical team when he had a calf injury (Man Utd game) and he's not been for since as a result.

Sounds like internally it's been a recognised shambles for a long time.
The 'board member' was actually Noble wasn't it? Heard he wasn't happy with player communication back in November and wanted him gone. Or is this one of the actual board of directors?

Oh I don't doubt their credentials, I'm curious as to who leaked the information/their version of events to them, Brady/Steidten/players?

And that's not defending Lopetegui if it turns out he was actually a piece of work smashing players about then that's on him.

Massive Attack" wrote: 09 Jan 2025, 22:04 "He's a really nice guy, great dignity and professionalism so no complaints on that front" for which they were all agreed on but how can that be true if he's allegedly physically fighting with players?

It's the total opposite of being a very nice Professional. There seems to be more than meets the eye and always 2 sides of the story.

Barely a day after he's gone and someone's already putting the knife in and turning it.

Also if it got that physical on a number of occasions then surely the Club would have good grounds to dismiss him there and then?

In fact I think it was rumoured from someone ITK on ITBS that Bowen confirmed it wasn't anything like that. And yet Lopetegui keeps a dignified silence and only talks well of everyone once he left.
Well Roshane is in all the press briefings, has direct access to players every week after matches and has multiple links inside the squad...an actual bonafide member of the press, with relationships with the West Ham press team. He's been saying on this podcast for weeks and weeks he had been told stuff he wouldn't release at the time but once the manager left he'd be able to speak about it.  The guy is a legit reporter....not someone spouting off as being 'in the know' because his mates dad's dog cocks legs with the dog of the wife of the Dad of the U13s goalie.

He said it was suggested punches were thrown, and when they queried with the club what they were allowed to print in the athletic, the club was ok with "it was more than verbal" from the perspective of the altercation.

Sounds like the wrong appointment from the word go. Who'd have thunk it?
Yes. They release on the West Ham Way's Patreon...theirs and the Martin Allen podcast probably the best of the content.

There was an 'Athletic' Podcast gone out tonight that covers it with Roshane, Ornstein etc....but not sure if they go into the background on it.

Link to that one is here:

The fraud was on a reported salary of £4.5 million per year and has no doubt been paid off to the tune of an eight figure lump sum for failing in his job (his fifth sacking in six jobs he has held since 2016).

He has rinsed the club to the tune of millions in personal compensation, and wasted a shed load of the club's money in an ill-feted six month tenure of failure.

How could you possibly feel sorry for someone in that position??!
In addition he obviously over sold himself in the interview. Good riddance.

Fair enough.

If the moderators on here actually did their jobs and carded/ banned people for constant abuse, stalking and harassment, then perhaps this forum wouldn't lose contributors at such a high rate and would have more than about 30 active contributors. Just a thought.
"Did their jobs..."...I'm going to translate this to:

"If the very small number of volunteer moderators we have here had the time to spend keeping an eye across all the rows and debates that go on to pick up on every little altercation and deal with, then perhaps we'd be growing faster than we are, despite yesterday having been the day where the highest number of posters we've had contributing to threads since the move."

Anyway...this is off topic...if you want to discuss WhoMail me separately.

Worry about your family and paying your bills mate, not a multi millionaire Spaniard you don't know from adam who has just pocketed a few mil for doing a shit job and will be on a beach somewhere next week. Wise up.
