Annoying pop up ads on this new site

Post Come On You Irons »

Can site admin please improve this? I'm getting sick of the intrusive downward pop up ads each time I click on a thread. I'm sure I'm not alone in getting frustrated by this.

Just use a good web browser like Brave and you won’t see them.
You won't see the website at all if everyone does that, site needs to cover its hosting cost!

Didn't appear to be much difference between 'collapsible' ads that drop down from the top and the smaller once that don't drop down.

So I have disabled the collapsible ones that seem to be annoying people.

I'm running an experiment to see how much the site loses by disabling the ads that drop downward to far. If it's not too expensive to switch them off I'll disable those ones.

I'm using my work laptop and they have been appearing recently. Yes it's the ads that appear across the top, but come down to block the top of the screen which I need to close of each time by clicking the arrow to close it. It's pretty annoying.
Now you know how we all feel when you post.

Me too. Understand the need for adverts but these are really obstructive and don’t appear to be targeted well as it’s usually something completely irrelevant to me.

I get this on mobile only too, very obtrusive, not a "pop up" but "pop down" a banner at top that extends half way down the page till you manager to press a tiny x to turn it to a banner again, easier said that done on a tiny screen with middle aged eyes and fingers!

"There are no pop up ads enabled. Have you got a virus scanner you can run on your machine? Unless you mean the ads on mobile that appear across the top and have an arrow to close?"

That's what I'm getting except, they are not across the top, they obscure the the post you want to read, most annoying. Only on my phone though, it's not so intrusive on my PC.

You only get them on this site? There shouldn't be any ads at all across the top of the page on a laptop. It looks like no one else is getting them, so I'll WHO mail you to try and work what is happening.
