​​​​​​In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.

Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.

He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.

A very inauspicious start from Potter tonight. Decent first half but the team collapsed second half when Villa woke up. Seemed he couldn't manage the game at all.

I can kinda see why he has a lowly 32% win percentage as a top flight manager, and why Chelsea bombed him out after 6 months.

The jury is out on Potter. He will have to convince he has what it takes to manage our great club to better pastures. The honeymoon period of not being 'loser Lop' and being able to speak English is over.

But the reality is they appointed a cheap option, someone who it completely unproven, a friend of Brady from Birmingham, and let's be honest someone who failed terribly at Chelsea even after spending 600M.

I was on the fence with his appointment, but seeing his press conference yesterday and the behind the scenes videos from the Club, it goes without saying I hope he does really well with us and am fully behind him and now believe he is the right person at the right time for us.

As comma says he will need time and we will need to throw him some slack between now and the rest of the season, a minimum is mid table and seeing some identity and progress with the side. If him and Tim can forge a good working relationship and park any egos then for once, we may be onto something.

i think he'll get a good reaction at first at least from the players. they seemed to have no time for lopetegui and you couldn't find a more different personality in a manager if you tried.

it'll be like when the strict, sallow teacher retires and you get the "fun" one in. everyone also knows the pitfalls of that, but when the kids are getting paid £100k a week just to turn up, in the modern game they will always be the ones calling the shots unless your name is mr guardiola.

The more I read and hear from and about him, the more I like him.

When he left Brighton to join Chelsea, I did wonder if Chelsea's poor form and Brighton's continuing good form under their new manager De Zerbi, was evidence that he was maybe overrated.

But you could argue that Chelsea was a shit club at the time and there aren't many managers that would have succeeded, and that Brighton's success was possibly helped by the foundations laid by Potter before he left.

I'm quite optimistic about this one as and I think that we've got him at the right time too.

Managers that are nothing but 100% successful in their careers are like hens teeth. It’s all about whether he will be a good fit for us and clicks well with the players and management and rigors of the PL. Loppy did not. Potter understands the English game so sighs for him have to be better

Interesting how others perceive things differently to oneself. I thought he was open, confident and self-assured. I found his answers to be refreshing as they were more thoughtful than the usual equivocations, platitudes and truisms of the typical pre-match presser. Perhaps that thoughtfulness is not befitting of a football manager as they are not usually very introspective characters and that's why he has come across as damaged. But maybe introspective men make shit football managers. Hope not.

No he just lacks charisma but you don't need that if you can do a decent job and get players onside. I don't expect to see exciting press conferences.

Yeah sorry don’t get that. Thought he came across very well and the other interview (high performance) he did said all the right things. If he can follow up on that is another matter but think you are looking for faults when there wasn’t really anything there.
