there are some positives with the arrival of Potter and some green shots at Villa. However, injuries and squad mismanagement have proper fucked us.

i just dont see how we are going to score, or even get down the other end of the pitch with the attacking players available.

I would play Alvarez in a back three. Apparently he has played at the back over 60 times in his career. Give the excellent Scarles another start as LWB with Wan Bissaka on the right. Unleash Guilherme!

Fabianski
Alvarez.   Mavropanos.   Kilman
Wan Bissaka.   Soucek.   Soler.   Scarles
Paqueta.   Guilherme
Ings

The good thing is you know he will have actually given it some thought and tried to come up with some creative ways of getting round the problem rather than just spending 2 mins looking at it and going 'Let's just line up and set out how we always do but just stick such and such up front and such and such at centre back' and hope for the best. Or 'Just put Cresswell there'
Indeed. Under Lope you did get the feeling that it was all a bit 'let's just see what happens'.

As long as we don't look like 11 retards trying to fuck a doorknob it'll be an improvement on anything Flopetegui delivered.

I have that feeling I get when it's the start of a new season.  I never got that under the previous manager as it was obvious it was all going to end badly.

THE SEASONS STARTS TODAY

(all this excitement and expectation will, of course, be gone if we get tonked 5-0 again)

Hopefully give Silva more to complain about, the cսnt loves a moan!
I tend to agree with this, gut feel is for a score draw tonight. But all three results are in play.

I'm more confident of not losing this one with the new manager.

Indeed. Fulham are a bit off it and have hit a bit of a wall with regards to results. You just feel that Potter has that something to take advantage of that.

Jimenez is bound to score against us again, but not enough to prevent a 3-1 home WIN

When you calculate a possible points tally for the season, Fulham at home would be one fixture you would have down for 3 points, nothing has changed. Injuries or not, we should be targeting a win here. We didn't move to start fearing Fulham, ffs.

Yeah, just because we were shit under Lopetegui doesn't mean we should expect anything other than a win against the likes of Fulham, if we want to be a team fighting it out for the European places.

Cheers up Tex, it's Fulham we're playing.

100% we should hope and expect to win this game tonight.

Doesn't mean we will, but that should be expectation from everyone in the club.

They are better than us…

Bit of luck we’ll get a draw…

Tight defence…breakaway goal for us…

Lets see how Potter plays it…

And who shows up for us…

Have  no idea what to expect other than me being tired as 2.30 am here.

But looking forward to see how we approach this, he will be desperate to put on a good performance. But it will be tough with the players available.. Looking forward to it though

I don't see us keeping them out for 90 minutes and barring a fluke penalty or otherwise gift of a goal, I don't see where a goal is coming from in our current set up. It was hard enough finding goals with Summerville, Fullkrug, and Kudus in the mix. Now we have one. Best I can see is a 1-1 draw similar to at their gaff.

Is Mavropanos definitely allowed to play in this game? He went off with a head injury and wondered if he would now have to follow concussion protocol if so.

As for the game, with a new manager bounce it should help give us a boost and after a very encouraging start to the Villa game, I'm hopeful we can get a win and something to build on.

1-0

                              Fabianski

                    Coufal* Kilman Emerson

Wan-bissaka Soucek    Alvarez         Scarles

                         Kudus    Paqueta

                                   Ings

*If Mavropanos isn't able to play.

Definitely out are: Antonio, Bowen, Füllkrug, Todibo
Probably out: Summerville
Returning: Emerson

Lineup (3-4-3)
Fabianski

Wan Bissaka Mavropanos Kilman

Soler   Soucek (c).  Alvarez.   Scarles

Paqueta. Emerson

Kudus

Subs: Areola, Cresswell, Coufal, Casey, Rodriguez, Irving, Guilherme, Ings, Ajala
Prediction: 1 - 1

I’d have Guilherme ahead of Emerson
