You seem to mention him far more than I do
He clearly lives rent free in your head.
You should move on, I have.

The Bundesliga had been in existence for a whole 2 years in 1965 when we played TSV.
So we played a side in the final that were semi-professional 2 years prior.

Defo not on a par with winning a pre-season tournament.Twoleftfeet did

Rubbish!!!!! Munich 1860 were runners up in their league that season and went on to win the Bundesliga the season after we beat them in the ECWC Final. Where did Fiorentina finish in 2023, hmmm 8th in Seria A.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
Not only that. The teams in the 1965 ECWC might not be the biggest names of the last 50 years, but were top 4 clubs in their leagues at the time. Portugal - 2nd place team; Italy - 3rd place team, Spain - 3rd place team, Germany - 4th place team. Effectively that would be today's Champions League quality opposition, well above Conference League quality.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
Any Premier league team in the Conference League should be favourites or at least in the top 3
However I note that NONE of the Premier League clubs that have competed in it have won it or even made the final
Villa got obliterated home & away in the semi final as I recall
That said Chelsea SHOULD win it this season having spent a billion quid in their quest to do so.
Plus resorted to fudging their numbers by transferring hotels in their group

Yes but the top league in England wasn't as far in front of the other leagues, was a leveller playing field.

Any PL team entering the conference should win it.
Makes me laugh everyone lauds the Premier league and how good it is and how players from other leagues aren't good enough.. We could cherry pick Ajax's best players, that definitely wasn't the case when we won in. 65, wasn't our squad worth more than the other 7 teams together in the quarters?
I love winning it, but definitely not on a par with 65Nobody said it was on a par with 1965. That was the 2nd tier Euro trophy at the time.

UEFA cup in the 70s/80s was being won by the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus.
Cup Winners Cup in the 90s by Man Utd, Arsenal, Barcelona...
That's a world away from the teams we faced in the Conference League.
Maybe look at the sides we played in 1965 then?
