"Sir Alf - agree with all of that. However, Moyes is more likely to suddenly become a Trappist monk than to play Aguerd at LB. I reckon Johnson will get the nod there. Even Moyes must be able to see that Cresswell would be a disaster."

Sir Alf - You're 100% right about moyes's closed mind yet it's plainly obvious that it would improve us yet apparently we have to be content with our lot because we can't do any better than Moyes... laughable.

"The interchanging idea is a decent shout IMO too but classed as 'fluid' or 'dynamic' hence Moyes is very unlikely to do it. The opposite of Moyes really who is best described by words like entrenched, inflexible, stubborn, fixed, unbending, obstinate and obdurate. Or simply a man who thinks he knows it all and will not listen to anyone. Hence why Pearce, Irvine, Warbarton etc.. called it a day at West Ham."

"Aguerd at LB is a good shout... I'd go with that. Kudus never seems to play on the LW, not sure why? If that is an issue I'd play Antonio on LW, Bowen RW and Kudus in the middle but give them licence to interchange with Paqueta in the 10 role behind slotting passes in for the three of them..."

I just hope he doesn't start cresswell. The blonde Japanese player will murder him for pace . He gave Emerson severe problems. Johnson or aguerd at LB if Emerson is unavailable. I'm confident as we've got the better players. Moyes is a bigger threat than they are .

The more obvious selection options are imho: Who to play alongside the Greek. I’d have said Ogbonna but after playing well a few weeks back he like many gets frozen out so it will be Zouma and knowing Moyes he’ll team him up with Aguerd because proving Moyes transfer picks are better than Steidtens is more important than everything else? Play Cresswell and we are fvcked since the Freiberg wide right player is their quickest and trickiest by far. Id actually consider putting Johnson there but he’s now frozen out again after a bad game caused by Moyes playing him wide left so Moyes leaves him out to show everyone it was the player’s fault? I might even play Aguerd left back. He’s quick and decent recovering tackles its in the air and physically he struggles and their wide right Japanese fella is small. But Moyes will play Cresswell and he coukd well cause us to exit like he did against Eintract Frankfurt a couple of seasons back Otherwise you gotta drop one of Soucek or JWP And surely start Antonio with Bowen wide right and Kudus wide left which allows Paqueta to play central. ——— Fab Coufal Mavros Zouma ( reluctantly) Aguerd ———- Alvarez ———- Paqueta ———— Soucek —————- Bowen ——- Antonio ——- Kudus

I thought Freiburg did quite well in marking Kudus and Paqueta out of the first leg. Granted neither played well but that was obviously partly down to them both being sat on by defenders. Thursday won't be any different. We need Kudus in particular to run into spaces... Bowen can do the same as can Antonio which is why he should play IMO. If we just play it to feet then Freiburg will lap that up all night long.

"We will get an unfeasibly large percentage of possession early doors. Therefore the team needs to be set up from the start to exploit that. The question is ""Does Moyes have enough match-ready players in the squad to do that?"" The answer is: ""I feel not."" With his insistence on a favourite fourteen, most of the rest of the squad on the bench will be rusty and sluggish (who were, by matter of irrelevant diversion, two funny, but very non-PC comedians back in the day). A lucky progression, probably via penalties, beckons."

I reckon The Fonz has it right for midfield and forwards. The problem for me is that their manager is shrewd so expect him to do a Moyes and sit deep hoping to score on a fast break. For that reason Zouma should be on the bench.

Moyes has to have us coming out all guns blazing from the start tomorrow. No cagey stuff. He who gets the first goal goes onto win as others have said and I do think it will be us. 3-1 on the night and we move on.

"Manuel I've been all over Pattaya - Bangkok - Big Buddha - Haad Yao - Haad Rin - Chaweng (watched in Islander) now Bangkok hospital Samui. But have a lovely big room with a nice big smart TV and have just managed to load my IPTV app, so I can suffer mentally as well as physically... :-) Chaweng is OK a bit hectic after Phangan which is so chilled obviously, been watching sunsets like an old hippy.."

"Not sure if I'll be watching either.. Hopefully be able to. Watched the game the other night in a bar in Chaweng amongst yids, city, villa and plastic scouse.. None of them could believe how shit and passive we were after questioning why I wanted Moyes out. It amazes me how other fans can question our fan base when they don't ever watch our games."

"Onside - Yep, losing the first leg is never a good idea, all this ''it's only half time'' bollocks is a joke. That said, it would have been worse had the away goal rule still been in place and Freiburg are not very good. I repeat, if we score first I don't see a problem."

"Looks like their overcharging for tickets for European home legs is coming back to bite them. £20 cheaper for the top band and the right scaling down would probably have cost no more than a couple of hundred thousand. 10000 more spending £5 each at the ground reduces that further, then add in the benefit of an enthusiastic full house. Arsenal showed how hard a first leg deficit can be tonight"

"Every game is now a heart versus head decision, heart always wants us to win, head says nothing is going to change if we do. I‚Äôll watch every minute, it‚Äôs what I‚Äôve always done, but honestly think it‚Äôs got to get worse before it‚Äôs getting any better. The boring cսnt will be frightened of us going 2 goals down so expect a boring 70 mins unless they score first. Then he‚Äôll let the dog off the lead and who knows."
