Moyes David Moyes

Post Ladysmith »

I see Moyes has ‘set up his team to old man’ their way through another game and get a result.

Top Top manager who should still be managing West Ham. Instead we had 2 inferior managers.

Absolute shambles!

That lack of ambition you mentioned actually did win us a trophy for first time in 43 years
You can thank the players for that. They won it despite Moyes and Sullivan. We bought nobody in the January before Europa knock out stages and the players were flogged to death that season. We won Conference with a small squad, again, Moyes flogging them. Well done to Moyes for being manager when we won that trophy. Genuinely. But Moyes and Sullivan hardly wrote a blueprint for the clubs progression after winning conference - They just sat on their hands barely believing the pair of them had won something in the face of their own sense of mediocrity rules approach.

I wish him well and don't harbour any bitterness. He's a decent bloke and a good manager but it was time for him to move on when he did.

Yup. I’m positive a lot of what was put down to dithering by Moyes will have been down to the dwarf.

Agreed NYC, Moyes time was up and he contrbuted to his own downfall with his squad management which is still affecting us now. But he oversaw some good times too so an ok manager overall.

But he was also impeded by the buffoon Sullivan as will any coach or manager. Sullivan the a malignent tumour in our club.  Totally clueless and living in the past trying to “wing it”.  Another 10-15 years of this unfortunately.

We wanted Moyes gone because the football was unwatchable at times. Life under Moyes was a bit of an enigma; It was ok when it worked and we managed to defend well and hit teams on the break, and we did have some cracking wins, but overall it was not entertaining stuff, and when it went wrong it went very wrong. How many demoralising 5-0 drubbings? On paper a successful period, in practice extreme hot and cold stuff on the pitch and some pretty poor recruitment too.

In any case our general malaise as a club is always going to be less about the manager and more about Sullivan.

I think it’s best to ignore Moyes whilst he quietly moves Everton up the table to settle above us for the rest of the season.

As I was saying to some goading mates earlier, I'd actually rather have the blinking wonder Lopetegui back, than entertain a 3rd Moyes spell.

31% possession and one shot on target, which was a penalty. Those tactics will always fail more often than they work.

Honestly that's not entertaining in any way and I wouldnt pay my money to watch it. 30 percent possesion and 3 shots on goal today. When they start losing games playing this way which they will then the fans will also turn.

He wasnt sacked l, he wasnt renewed, he left. He won a trophy and had some great times but wasnt the future. I cant for the life of me understand how people were happy to watch that every week.
This is it though. For now just like is when Moyes joined us, they won’t mind. They just want points by any means and some goals. Once they are out of desperation mode, then the depression sinks in. He will keep them up comfortably but it won’t be pretty. However if their board actually backs him properly and don’t interfere in transfers, he will put together a better functioning team there than here.

What the N17 bellend fails to understand is like with us, Moyes has a great honeymoon but once that wears off he reverts to low block, boredom which sent me and many others into to a state of catatonia.

Good luck Everton, you'll need it.

Moyes was always going to do a better job away from Sullivan’s machinations, roadblocks and duplicitous ways. Guarantee even with their financial ways it’s not going to stop him bringing in a player or two who makes a difference with a board fully committed to supporting him rather than playing fantasy football or doing what’s best for them and their mates.
