West Ham annoyed over ‘act of betrayal’ from own player – Agent holds talks with another club
By Naveen Ullal
Lucas Paquetá has been a regular for West Ham United this season and scored five goals from 25 matches.
The attacking midfielder’s representative seems to be trying to take him away from the Premier League side.
Last week, multiple claims from Brazil stated the agent met with Flamengo director José Boto. O Dia also mention the ‘secret’ meeting and West Ham’s reaction to this.
Paquetá’s agent held talks with Boto at the club’s training centre last Tuesday to find out the possibility of a move to Flamengo.
The Football Association have charged the player for allegedly breaching the FA’s rules and the hearing is expected to take place in the near future. The Brazilian club want to know the outcome of this case before considering signing him.
West Ham have supported the 27-year-old and hired lawyer Nick De Marco KC to defend him. They were ‘surprised’ over the agent’s meeting with Flamengo and found out about this via the press.
The London club believe Paquetá’s camp should have informed them about the meeting in advance. O Dia claim they consider it as an ‘act of betrayal’ from the Brazil international’s representatives.
According to the report, West Ham are willing to sell the former Lyon man for £20m in the summer window.
Flamengo, for their part, are waiting to find the outcome of his hearing to decide the best formula to negotiate with the Premier League club.
