Potter said Ferguson is ready to play but he's on the bench. I would start and him and would give the crowd a lift, but there you go. Alvarez over Irving for me.
Its still very early in Potter’s tenure to be too expectant imo. He has made some immediate improvements but the squad he inherited was so poor. Moyes left it with very old and slow players and the summer transfer business did not plug many of the gaping holes. The policy if Moyes operating with a small 14 man squad has really had an impact and we have yet to adequately replace Rice.
We have also struggled, due to lack of pace and legs in centre mid, to break teams down at home if they set up to sit deep and play on the counter. Thats almost certainly what Brentford will do and as Palace did so effectively against us. We have some good forward options now but they will need goid supply from midfield which is where we struggle.
Just got to hope we can get something to turn the good performances into points

I think the point right now is what is our weakness? At this stage it’s defensively. So we need to fix that, and in my opinion, Wan-Bissaka is a better option in a back three than Coufal, Cresswell, Mavropanos, so I would trade his ball carrying for a stronger defense. A back three does also allow the luxury of one to step out when we have the ball.
I’d also overlook the Todibo investment and don’t see that as a factor. I’d of course like to see him tried in this system and with a manager he doesn’t despise but 1) he seems like he’s one of those players who is looking to do the off as soon as he can, and 2) aside from a couple of games, and while he has obvious natural ability, he has had some howlers.
I just think JWP’s crossing from the right with Ferguson (or indeed Fullkrug) in the middle is quite an asset.
Yeah I did say when everyone is fit, and I'm not saying it because Todibo cost a lot, I think he will be good.
Don't like the thought of a wing back who isn't a great ball carrier and I don't remember him putting many great crosses in from open play.
A useful sub when all fit, but shouldn't ever be starting for me.
Besides we'll need one of Fullkrug and Ferguson to be fit enough to play..
Yup, depending on who is back, this becomes more of a match with expectations of winning rather than a free swing but a good performance and competitive please like the Villa and Chelsea games.
I am expecting a win if most of the players have returned and excited to see how Ferguson slots in.
