Yes, he actually escaped in a dingy. Also, he didn't kill the cսnt guard, he was killed but it was from a paroled inmate who saw him on the outside at a cafe and put five deserved bullets in him.
The film was banned in Turkey and fucked up tourism there for a long time. It was all filmed in Valetta, Malta. The actor Brad Davis died when he was 40.
Billy Hayes went back to Turkey after his license to arrest him had expired and apologised for calling them a nation of pigs.
