Moorgate tube disaster 50 years ago today
Worst fatality ever on the London tube network. Any old cunts on here have any recollection of this?

RIP to the victims who were just going to work.

This clearly needs to be settled by a round or two of brick wall/paper/scissors.

Re: Moorgate tube disaster 50 years ago today
Unfortunately, I'm an old cսnt and was a regular user of the old Northern City Line that ran from Moorgate to Drayton Park at that time. I was at work in Holloway on the day that it happened. I remember it very well, one of my work colleague's father in law, was a driver on that line and knew Les Newsome very well. He was as dumbfounded as everybody involved as he knew him to be a steady bloke. I can remember going home on that line, afterwards when it became part of British Rail's Great Northern network, and was stuck outside Moorgate for over an hour as the failsafe signalling that they put in had failed and eventually the driver had to go over a red signal to get us into the station.

Probably the first disaster I can remember with a degree of clarity is the Kings Cross fire in '87, more so as I was working in Farringdon at the time, the next stop on the Metropolitan Line. That's where I was working in '87 (Cowcross Street).
We had a training session at a hotel at King's Cross that evening which is why I was there when the tube fire happened.
Small world mate. Worked in Britton Street from '82 til '95. The red building behind the stone archway.
Used to sup in The 3 Compasses and The Castle back then.

Crashed into an underground siding didn't it?

Moorgate and the trident crash in Staines are the earliest tragedies I remember seeing on the box as a kid.
RIP to all who lost there lives
The earliest tragedy I can remember is JFK getting shot, and yes, I'm an old cսnt.

Was working in a building on the corner of Wood Street and London Wall when this happened. Building management immediately set up a rota where everyone went throughput the day and gave blood.

This site should consider a partnership with chums trousers and velcro slippers.
And still 11 days til the next match. All I want for next season is a cup run.
I'd never heard of Chums trousers.
Just looked them up.
Look a bit racy frankly...

I'm an old cսnt as referred to by a previous poster, They think the driver was having a psychomotor automatism fit, but no-one knows really. They found him upright with his eyes wide open. We used to live near Essex Road and my sister would have been going to work around that time, but she was late. She would have used that route.

I remember this from the news. I was fairly young at the time.
The one I really remember is Kings Cross in '87 as I was rolling up to catch a tube as the smoke was starting to come out of the stairs. Somone I worked with was a couple of minutes ahead of me, and apparently he was the last that came out of the station on his own two feet.
Next day was interesting. Watching the office door to see if everyone arrived for work (pre-mobile phone days). Thankfully all did, but that was a close one!
