This is the most ignorant argument that has been floated up on here, repeatedly. It is taking Zelensky side and swallowing it whole.

America would be putting companies, people and money physically into the Ukraine.  Money from minerals does not magically show up in the US.  If Russia attacks again with that in place, the US is not going protect it's obviously signicant interests?  Or more realistically Russia is not going attack because it doesn't want to piss the US off.

That is a security guarentee.  Zelensky wants more, ie more money at least.  We can argue that but to say there are no guarentees in the realpolotik of this is crazy.

Trump hasn't offered any specific security guarantees and the whole deal with the minerals is not agreed. No one knows how those minerals would be provided to the US in fact it may just be their sales proceeds are ringfenced to repay the loans. I take your point that if US companies are there and Putin is therefore disinclined to invade again as long as relations with the US remain but arent US companies already in Ukraine? Has that stopped Putin?

This is why it requires full transparency and a proper negotiation including all parties. Zelensky obviously wants guarantees and hasnt had them hence asking for them.  how they may be delivered is obviously one of the points he wants clarified before he agrees to any kind of land grab by Putin. 

Your argument that Ukraine should have no security guarantees is the most ridiculous and naive statement ive heard from this forum or any other but to assume those guarantees could be covered by the mineral deal just about tops them all well done.
