Logistically it’ll be a piece of piss for them to get the stage up and dismantled in the matter of a few minutes. It happens every year with some really grand looking stuff at the Super Bowl and obviously they can just consult whoever produces those.

No chance it’ll be a short as a usual half time break. They’ll have an extended one like at the Super Bowl something between 20-30 mins.

I don't think it will be a big deal to international football supporter community, so I doubt there will much of a push back from them.

The same ones will be delighted there's no beer at the 2034 World Cup.

Yep! And timed reminders on those who say that HT will be extended and then we can see who was right. Maybe you can note it down?

On a broader point, why is such a biggie anyway, I didn't think hardly anyone on here gave a fuck about England/international football?

I doubt they'd be able to do that in such little time, but I'd be impressed if they do.

If they do somehow manage it within 15 mins (they won't as Coldplay don't do anything half baked judging by their live shows), then it'll be the seeds planted for something bigger/longer.

Even ol' slaphead Infantino has admitted he's inspired by the Super Bowl half time show.  That's what you'll eventually be getting.

...only if we're talking about live vocal to track. Eurovision style. Probably why you're ambivalent (if not keen)

Maybe they'll set up the stage in a big, fuck-off cavern under the pitch will will rise up at half-time, like one of those old Wurlitzer Cinema organs, with the band already playing, and sink down when it's time for the second half to start...

...only it won't sink down because some mechanical or "fail-safe" issue will keep it up, while the engineers attempt to "fix" the problem, which they will, miraculously, do, once the artists have finished their set list...

...but not before we've had a word from our sponsor, naturally.

I'm surprised you need to ask that question, Mike.

Quite how they plan to set something up this grand, perform it, and then dismantle the whole thing in 15 minutes, is anyone's guess.

Plus don't forget they have to squeeze in the half a billion of pounds of revenue they'd get from advert breaks.

I'd wager it will be close to 30 mins than it will be to 15 mins.

If the half-time break (for the players) is any longer than 15 minutes, then we'll really find out who controls the game in the 21st century.

As others said, you can bet it will be at least 30 mins half time with 15 mins of music
Well whoever said that will be wrong, including you.

As others have said, there are no appropriate comparisons between the spectacles of American Football and proper football.  The history, evolution and scope of both games couldn't be more different and let's not forget the former is generally an hour and a half longer than a football match and with maybe just15 minutes of actual playing time. Extended breaks are the norm. The experiences shouldn't be conflated.

I watched a Superbowl once, having seen many highlights of games, but the game took for ever with sundry stoppages and time outs. Then there was a touchdown by the Washington Foreskins, and these huge steroid fueled blokes did a dance similar to the Okey-Kokey. After watching cheerleaders. big pointing gloves, and listening to inane drivel from the commentators, that was the last straw and I pissed off to bed and missed the half time entertainment. The next day I read in an article in a paper (possibly the Guardian) which said the half time entertainment was barbaric with no further comment. Please don't turn our game into this nightmare.

That's what you'll be looking at for the half time break in final of the 2026 WC I reckon, along with a rapper I've never heard of 'dissing' on another rapper I've never heard of.
Fucking hell was it that long? It wasn't even much of a spectacle. (or any good. I mean it's usually shit but at least a visual spectacle) Clearly it's not 20 mins any more then. I'm just thinking of the good old days.

Why can't they do it it as part of an opening or closing ceremony like the rest of the civilised world does it, breaking up the flow of the final more than necessary seems silly
