I dont want to create a scene, but this has been the longest time without a match since forever, and i cant keep reading about politics, millwall, drivel for the rest of the weekend.

Nailed on win for our massive bastards.

Strong lineup from them even with Wembley next week. Harvey Barnes always seems to score against us.

Tough game but winnable.

This will give us a good idea of where we are at, I’m looking forward to a good open game of football.

3-2 to us.

It makes sense. Paqueta coming straight back is a risk. I'm sure we see him as a sub.
I agree. I think there's a significant risk that Paq's head isn't right with the impending decision so no issues with him not starting.

Expected them to rest a few for next week but that's a decent line up. They have blown hot and cold this season, hopefully, tonight will be one of those where they don't turn up.

2-1.

Sir Alf" wrote: 10 Mar 2025, 14:30 I would go with Stubbo's line up except would have JWP starting instead of Soucek.  JWP not the quickest but more mobile than Soucek and more comfortable with 1 or 2 touch passing in midfield.  Soucek to come on if we need to chase the game and / or go more direct.
I think the trouble is we need Soucek as our 'out' ball from the GK for when we can't play it short and out via the defence.

With no Soucek in the side, one of Ferguson or Fullkrug would need to start in order to have someone with aerial presence in advanced areas.

So there'd still be no place for JWP.

Reasonably confident, based on the last two results.
Wouldn't be too upset if we get the same line-up.
2-1 (as I can't see us keeping three clean sheets in a row).

Sir Alf" wrote: 10 Mar 2025, 14:27 Ferguson has been out long term ( 18 months on and off ?)  and with ankle issues.  Its one of those injuries ( like bad knees, cruciates etc ) that can take forever to fully recover and in some cases they never do.  But the duration he was out means he needs a run of games and a full preseason to be anywhere near where he was IMO.  You see it a lot even with lesser injuries.  Example being Mcginn of Villa since he returned from a few weeks out.  Struggling to get form at the moment. A split second slow, not quite as strong on the ball and now getting subbed off which was unheard of for the previous 2 years.  Ferguson is young but there still remains a risk he will never be the same. Brighton seem ok with letting him move on but demanding a high, unrealistic fee.  Perhaps they have some doubts about him longer term?

So we will probably not see the best of Ferguson even if he does eventually fully recover as that will be next season or even later.  It was worth a punt but at this juncture looks like it won't work out.
Fuck me, you are still prattling on about Ferguson's fitness. Quite the expert.

Going to be a tough game. I'd go for a draw being most likely. But will be happy just to see evidence of further improvement in the team.
You're easily pleased then. So you will be OK to lose another home game as long as there is evidence of improvement? How do you improve yet still lose at home ffs? Managers should always be under pressure to win games. Potter shouldn't be getting a pass at this point.

Stubbo's lineup will probably be the one that starts. But personally I would keep Paqueta on the bench.
