MOTD should show fewer highlights - BBC chairman

Match of the Day: BBC chairman says show should include fewer highlights - BBC Sport
"Shah told The Times that many fans had watched Premier League goals and action before Match of the Day is broadcast.Shah said the show "should not be built around highlights".He added: "It should be built around analysis and examination of the match to give viewers a deeper insight."

yet more proof that these people are incompetent, most people have not watched the action of every game, and does this person know about the issue of watching the 3pm ones? I'd imagine the vast majority want longer highlights and less chat

Great idea👍 lets get rid of the highlights of "other" games and concentrate talk and insight of the games that really matter, that is the clubs we all love like Liverpool, ManU and Arsenal🙄 Hang on though! isnt that what they pretty much do know anyway with a quick round up of those "other" games????

Fuck off BBC, fuck off Samir Shar who i doubt ever watch's MOTD anyway.

Ridiculously out of touch. What a clown. More analysis just means more dbate about Man U Liverpool and arsenal as well. Clearly the football is what peolpe come to see. You can get endless analysis on any platform.

Incidentally from the vote, 8% agree with him. And the other 92% disagree and aren't his relatives or fellow BBC board members...

Must confess I hardly watch MOTD these days as modern football is crap, but if I do watch it the last thing I want is more Joe Hart, Micah Richards or Alan Shearer stating the bleeding obvious!

It wasn't the only bonkers thing he said in his interview either.

“When you have people coming to Britain on small boats, there’s a great deal of sympathy. They’ve just gone through a horrendous journey”

The BBC have their man.  Comma must be proud.

I only watch the analysis for our games or if there has been a contentious issue in one of the other games.  I can't see this happening as it would prove very unpopular.

Was he the one who signed off paying Lineker £1.3m & Shearer £0.6m a season to give this analysis ?

Analysis = Wanky ‘banter’

Anyone remember when the presenters and commentators went on strike a few seasons ago? I thought it was more enjoyable watching without Lineker, the commentary and analysis.

More analysis by some unknown woman footballer, and less football?

What a fantastic idea by the BBC.
Indeed, infuriating that he must be effectively winging it in his job, the most basic of research and canvasing would tell him what an astronomically unpopular idea it would be

Exactly. Personally I record each episode and fast forward through every second of the "analysis".
