Scarles dropped for passing the fucking ball forwards it seems.

Mavropenis and no striker, great.

Plodder can take that line up, fuck off back to Brighton, and wipe Lloyd Russell-Moyles AIDS infested arse with it.

Meanwhile Fonseca has won 6 from 8 and scored over 20 goals, excellent choice there Brady, FFS.

I have had enough of that winning side that didn't win against Newcastle, too defensive and too boring. The slightly better side against Newcastle was this one, but I don't suppose Potter will start with it, would he?

Alreola
Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell
Wan Bisakka, Paqueta, JWP,  Soler, Scarles
Bowen, Kudus

Us to do sad old Moyes 0-2

he’d also be averaging less points than Lopetegui’s entire tenure which got even worse after the first 9.
Failure to score today would also mean Potter would be our only manager in history to be averaging less than a goal a game
The only positive so far is we’ve started letting in alot less goals per game, but it’s come at a cost of creating and scoring goals
admittedly it’s early days, but if people wanna slate other fans for not thinking Potter is doing a good job then I think you need to be a bit more realistic and take into account the majority of our performances have not been good and the stats back this up.
I think he comes across a lot more likeable than Lopetegui and want him to succeed, but so far like many other fans I’ve not been impressed, and that’s not just based on being a negative cսnt (which admittedly I am) there are genuine reasons for concern.
One key difference is that Lopetegui had more players at his disposal... Potter has had Summerville for 45 minutes, Fullkrug for 15 minutes and no Antonio

It’s got to be a dead cert. Especially if we can get a half decent fee.

I will try to hold off judgement and wait until he / Macaulay complete the summer transfer business. But would agree the stats for our forward looking play are not good.

Alarm bells will ring if we do not find a way to bring some “legs” , athletes and more physicality to the central midfield when we do our summer business.  We will have to sell Kudus in addition to Aguerd I suspect because the players we need for that area aint cheap. Unless Macaulay can repeat the Brighton model as they always seem to pick up high quality players for that area on a budget ( Bissouma, Caicedo, Bulema in succession and the likes of Maccalister to supplement these “engines” in the middle.

Anyone know what this Angel Gomes is like? His profile? Similar to the aforementioned players? He’s available on a free so obviously one we would be interested in as Sullivan via Ex and Whetstone are pleading poverty before the window even starts.

Exactly. None of our midfielders have the legs to play in this fashion. We have to pick the lesser of two evils. Trying to keep it tight at the back but making it harder for ourselves to score or not worrying about keeping it tight and trying to be more adventurous.

Difference is with the second choice which is what lop tried, we were so open we kept getting fucking pumped even if we did score a few more along the way. Potter has gone the other way which isn’t great fun to watch but for my money it’s better than watching us conceding four or five goals every third match and we have more of a chance of scoring one if we keep it tight at the back than having to score 2-3 if we don’t. It’s a little bit Moyes but the playing staff is the playing staff.

Simply pushing on more in games or chucking more attack minded players on isn’t going to work because we will go back to getting walloped again with an even more paper thin midfield and exposed back line. We just need to get the summer and get some fresh blood in and some old blood out.

In terms of this game, it should be a bit more suited to what we have than Newcastle. Tough one though. Don’t think it’ll be pretty.

Soler needs to play deeper than previously tried. Evan needs to start or with Fulkrug on his way back he may not get another chance. But the time to do so this was home to Newcastle. The setup he used in that game might suit this one better despite how boring is going to be.

Think this the type of game where it is worth playing Soucek as the Everton low block does not expose his limitations so much

Thing is with Potter I’ve already accepted he’s not gonna set us up the way I’d like to see us play
but if we are gonna set up like this, then it would be nice to see us try it with Paqueta and Soler rather than Ward-Prowse and Soucek
I don’t think it would be all sideways and backwards with those two and they’d definitely improve our non existent forward play
At the same time it could turn out to be a disaster but what’s to lose by giving it a go
im getting sick to death of Soucek being rewarded with a starting place after misplacing passes and going missing in almost every game

Getting really pissed off with seeing Soucek loping around. He was so far off the pace against Newcastle it's unbelievable. I would like to see Irving get a game - he's looked good in the few games he's had and has got something about him.

You can’t argue with facts. However Lop had a summer transfer window behind him whereas Potter had the “we tried” brigade behind him who weren’t gonna do anything in the January window. Today is a big test, especially given that I think we look much better under Potter away. The guy still needs to be judged in my opinion only once he’s had a summer transfer window and a pre/season behind him first.

Still going to struggle to create chances here. And I can see the blue noses snatching a goal in the same way Newcastle did.

Hopefully the greek doesn't even make the bench. I don't think Paquetta should be starting either. Like to see Casey get some minutes. Has Orford been rejected after his last venture? Admittedly wasn't great but that the only chance he gets?

Have we just lost the last 3 games and conceded 10 goals? Some of the negativity is unreal. We won our last away match at Arsenal and have conceded 1 goal in 3 matches. Do people realise we’re playing ok with what is a pretty slow old squad with no decent striker or central midfield

I despair.

Win a trophy and we start to think we are entitled to be a top side.

You lot would have had Lyall sacked after a couple of years.

We ain’t winning this. We haven’t got the players or the mental fortitude too prevail. Can see one or two out their coming over with a bad case of mass neurosis.

3-0 comfortable Blue Scouse.

I think we’ll get pumped today. No real motivation to win this game and Everton are in good form.

Ive captained Beto in my fantasy league team.

having said that, I find it impossible to predict our performances and results this season.

Agree there could well be a psychological impact on the cutrent team ( 8 or 9 will be Moyes era players )  if Potter’s West Ham lose to Moyes’ Everton.

Faith in the long term “Potter project” could be hit altjough you would hope his communication skills ( he has a degree in doesnt he?) might help alleviaye that a bit?

Nonetheless, a defeat where we have only 1 or 2 chances is the worry. If we create a lot of chances, and just fluff them ( Leicester away albeit our defence was non existent to mask that ) its not so bad.

He has to bring in  Paqueta and / or Soler. Soler deeper, not wide or as a number 10. He is actually the quickest of our central midfielders ( least slow I should say 🥴). But Paqueta if he is on it can be physical with good ball protection. Maybe put him wide left again?

But starting Soucek, JWP and Alvarez as a 3 is askimg for trouble. I would bench Soucek and use as an impact sub if needed I think?

The squad for that central midfield is not fit for purpose really
