See here's the thing. Many have promised to shrink an overbloated government (Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Obama) and when push came to shove they lost their nerve. But it needs to happen and Trump's not for welching on it. Whether you like it or not, if you don't go into this all guns blazing and instead go all softy-softly it will simply never happen. It might not be pretty, people will lose their jobs but it needs to happen and it is. That Musk offered to help and that Trump appointed him to do so as an adviser may irk some people, but Trump see's his value and it's in his power to do so.
