Some decent games, both France and Belgium have come back from 2 goal deficits in their respective games! Spain and Holland is a good watch as was the first leg.

Think the results of some of this game determines which WC qualifying group you go into, although looking at the groups for the big nations it will make fuck all difference, not like we have any "groups of death" or only the winner goes to the finals

Evan has been utter shite, but has just scored a quality goal.

Looked way off the pace, and has been played out of position - more of a 10 than 9. Ireland are a shambles tbh.

I’d still try Bellingham at 8 just to see how it worked and Foden at 10. If it doesn’t then forget it. It feels like we have more options in general with Bellingham alongside Rice.

A big problem for Foden is also that he’s become a huge “system” player. He has spent so much time under Pep’s (generally excellent) regime, where every tiny move is rehearsed, analysed, rehearsed, analysed, rehearsed…to within an inch of your life…that he seems to have lost the ability to do things off the cuff when he’s not playing for Pep.

He’s been half the player for England.

It doesn’t help that Bellingham plays in the same role he wants, of course. So England always seem to want to move Foden around.

I’m genuinely struggling to see a better option down the right for England than Bowen.

Foden and Saka are better all-round footballers (play in other positions etc). But Foden is not a right-sided attacking player, and wants to be central too often. While Saka’s “natural” starting position under Southgate was often too deep for him to be a regular goal threat. It was infuriating.

Bowen is quicker than both, a better finisher than both and more eager to get into the box than both. He wants to break the back line often. Tuchel says he wants more attack-minded wide players. Bowen has to be given some starts, surely?

The whole thing, much like the European club competitions is set up to ensure that the ' big hitters' make as much progress as possible. Do away with seedings and have a random draw and if the big guns get drawn together early on then so be it.

Was talking to a Liverpool fan about these LEGENDS games and she admitted they need to rename them as mostly not legends 
The only positive is that these are charity games … understand that one was supporting Kenny Dalglish’s wife’s cancer charity

Believe yesterday was also Non League football day
Perhaps each football league club could adopt a non league club for the day & donate use of their stadium for the day & promote it at say £10 a ticket with all proceeds to the non league club

Sydney_Iron , Totally agree although I do remember Malcolm McDonald's 5 goals against the mighty Cyprus, England thumping Luxembourg 9-0 in a Euro Qualifier in 1982 or San Marino's Davide Gualtieri scoring after 9 seconds!    On the other hand as you say there used to be at least two or three teams in a group that could qualify.  I remember we used to draw Poland practically every qualifying group and of course with USA94 most people remember that the Dutch knocked us out but forget we lost 0-2 away in Norway and only drew with them at home.  The Group that year was Norway, Holland, England, Poland, Turkey, San Marino.  Could come a cropper against any five of that six.  More countries these days obviously but I don't know why FIFA and UEFA don't have some sort of qualifying tournament for the lesser nations so they qualify for the main quaifying groups.
