We seriously need a Patsy Holland style player. Not glamorous but always available to give an outlet for the ball.

Cresswell looks like he's nailed on for a contract extension at this rate.

Not saying this is significant or even a factor but Potter’s Brighton chance creation was decent when I looked at their stats from 2019-2022 seasons and in that category not much worse than under De Zerbi but they could not convert them. One of the poorest at chance conversion by the mooks of things. Was it anything to do with better strikers or other players under De Zerbi because under Potter didnt he mainly have Murray, Maupay and often injured Wellbeck?

Paqueta and JWP in midfield, but he's dropped Todibo which I find baffling.
Kudus not in squad, injured maybe?
Ex saying one of our key players hasn't trained and won't take part.

Get Bowen back on the right wing where he’s at his best , start Ferguson play kudus as a 10. Won’t happen though .

Has to start Ferguson.  Play a striker ffs.   Bowen and either Kudus or Paq behind him......not sure who is best to be honest.....thats the state of our team at the moment.  It is going to be the longest end to a season for us in some time

He's been here a few months and has to work with a shitload of old and slow defensively minded players.
He has stopped the rot, and made a few needed changes, even made subs before the 80th minute too.

Give him the benefit of the doubt. He need more time and is lightyears ahead of the two previous wnkers

he's using a formation that should allow extra players to join the attack, this cսnt uses it as a way of adding an extra defender and still playing three central midfielders. this is almost every game, bar the first match against villa. he's also now apparently getting angry when questioned about why he won't use a striker. you give him all the benefit of the doubt you want, but I recently posted the season goal totals of his seasons in charge of brighton and it's about a goal a game. nothing is changing, he refuses to try things now with zero risk of relegation

the two seasons after he left Brighton under De Zerbi, they score 72 & 55 goals. his best total was 42, it's shit football with very little margin for error
I agree.  The cloud over him has always been his team's ability to put the ball in the net.  Was the same at Chelsea. He did a bit better with Swansea, and his last 6 games with Brighton....but by and large his team's have not scored lots of goals.

I also at this point would totally bin off Ferguson, unless we think there is any chance he's the striker answer and we want to sign him permanently based on what has been seen in training.

He played almost a full match and scored in the past week - so theres a bit of momentum now. Tonight (if he starts) is his chance to show us something.  If he doesnt step up, then that has to be the end of it.

Yes, with the so called wing backs they are still basically defenders as such i.e AVB, Emerson/Scarles, then he packs out the midfield with DM's and only plays with two forward players, regardless of the oppo.

I think he will start with Ferguson tonight but it will be interesting to see who makes way for him, will it be a DM like JWP, or Paqueta or Kudus? He was bigging Wolves up in his presser, so likely the latter.

Cant say I know much about Fonseca in terms of his tactics, the way he sets his teams up etc and the type of players he likes to use. So I defer to you and others. Google search says he is at Lyon. Not sure how he is doing there so moght take a look in at one of their games which pop up on my Dodgy Dave forestick list of streams 🤭

Back to Potter. Its been pretty underwhelming at home but encouraging away. Thats based on an acceptance that away from home, its acceptable ( to me ) to play on the counter and be hard to score against.

Im sticking with giving him until a few months into next season before making a call on whether he’s the answer or just another dud.  Im doing a Sir Trev at this stage and going to get big splinters from the fence I’m sitting on.
