Re: Potter Out
I played football with Paul P. before he went pro. Nice lad and a really good goalkeeper!
Re: Potter Out
I wanted Potter as I thought he was level headed and offered decent hope as a longish term solution. In reality we have been no better off than we would have been with Lop. In some ways I warmed to Lop more and wanted him to do well.
All in all, we are under-achieving shockingly with some significant players not seeming to give more than 80% of their potential. I'd like to blame the players but we have changed a lot of them over the last few years with little change in effort and therefore in league achievements. Let's just get to the end of this miserable season and see how the next one goes before giving up hope on Potter. There has been the occasional glimmer of hope (e.g. Liverpool away).

Re: Potter Out
Not sure why we even sacked Lopetegui. Sullivan clearly wasn't massively impressed by Potter or else he wouldn't have tried to give him just a short term contract, so why not just wait until the summer to bring in a new manager, when we might have had more choices open to us? It wasn't like we were in danger of relegation. Lopetegui got sacked after drubbings by Liverpool and Man City but we'd got 8 points and were unbeaten in the previous 4 games, so hardly in relegation form.
Re: Potter Out
We could have got Potter at the end of last season, and allowed him to build his own team. But that would have meant paying compensation to Chelsea, so as usual we took the cheap option and went for Lopetegui who was out of contract. There were other options, but again we would have had to pay compensation.
When they sacked Lop, the only realistic options were out of contract managers. For such an important role, they love taking the cheap option. Ironically, it ends up costing more in the long run because they end up with a load of overpaid and overpriced players the new manager doesn’t want.

The problem at this club is not who the manager is or isn't, it's the fucking Nick Nack cսnt with the Russian hat.

Re: Potter Out
We never had 60% possession at Anfield. We had 45%, and that is actually a bit less than Moyes' team had at Anfield 2 years ago.
Generally speaking we do have more possession now, but we do fuck all with it so the only benefit to our ball hogging is that it gives the opposition less time with the ball, so we concede less than we might do if we actually took a risk and tried to score ourselves.
As far as pressing goes we're winning possession in the final third less often than we did under Lopetegui.

Re: Potter Out
I'm not happy but I will I disagree on that at least for now. We've had some impressive performances in places without getting the results. We did win at Arsenal and we had 60% possession at Anfield, you would NEVER have had that under Moyes. I know there has been some real shit like yesterday that has me scratching my head too, but I think he is trying to get us to press more than under Moyes and it is working in patches but not at all consistently. I think Moyes got the most out of this lot by setting up the way he did and when it worked it worked well. Potters 'out' here is the obvious limitations with the squad he has to work with. He will get a summer transfer window to stamp his own mark on the team, so in a sense the limiting factor will be how much the club is willing to pony up and sign the right players that we have failed to do for 2 or 3 seasons now.
IF we are still floundering in October then YES I will be whole heartedly behind replacing him.

And no doubt he’ll get told to stay schtum in future.
I’ve stopped listening to Potter’s interviews. He’s just full of piss and hot air. Talks a lot without ever saying anything meaningful. Like a mid-level manager in a council planning department.

Re: Potter Out
I am with Alfs. I do genuinely believe that Potter deserves a well backed transfer window and a full pre-season to set up for next season. But, frankly, I am clinging onto that view by my fingernails.
Once again, Potter has a chance to show some balls, and once again just comes across as a loser. His attitude and approach are woefully off the required level.... But, he has inherited a squad with so many holes and weaknesses that is so unbalanced, for me, he has a get out.
As Adsiron very eloquently put below - This is Sullivan's mess. It was Sullivan's choice to hire Lope (instead of Amorim) to clean up the mess left by Moyes. And it was Sullivan's choice to hire Potter to clean up the mess of Lope. It's just that, right now, like Lope before him, Potter isn't making a very good job of cleaning up the mess made by the previous manager.
So Sullivan needs to back Potter and give him the funds to bring his players in to help clear up the mess and get us back being competitive. Come the summer, if he gets the players he wants and a good pre-season and then in October we are still floundering, then Sullivan needs to being in his next cleaner.

No you weren’t you desperate AIDS ridden prick.
Moyes last half a season was equally as shit as anything Lopetegui & Potter have served up.

Re: Potter Out
So I was right all along that we should have stuck with Moyes.
As for twoleftfeet, he seems to have a massive hard on on this ludicrous idea that I am a Spurs fan. The bloke is a cսnt!

We did, and after they went down to ten men instead of getting their faces, we, like your mother, just bent over and took it dry.

It's odd that the likes of feet and some others saying we should back him and give him time, yet they were very vocal very early about wanting Lop out, yet this bloke is doing worse..
Feet demanded he was sacked now anybody doing the same is a spurs cսnt, he's definitely not all there.
Spurs fans are massive cunts but feet definitely is a bigger one

Re: Potter Out
Twoleftfeet - without any fishing emojis or accusations of being a spurs fan, I’d like to hear your opinion of Sullivan’s appointment of Lopetegui? What’s your take on it?
Re: Potter Out
Who decided that Potter was an improvement on Lopetegui?
Who decided that Lopetegui was an improvement over Steidten's choice of Amorim?
Who decided to let Steidten go after blaming him for 2 poor signings (Guilherem & Fullkrug) who are now regularly starting to feature well?
Who appointed Moyes as an upgrade on Pellegrini after rejecting him first time around?
Who appointed PL Champion Pellegrini and managed to turn him into a 2nd season failure so sacked him?
Who appointed Moyes for a 6 month save our season then decided he wasn't good enough so let him go?
Who appointed Bilic for a great season only to sack him 2nd season after letting our star player go?
Who made fans suffer 4 seasons of Sam Allardyce after promising a world class team in a world class stadium?
who appointed Avram Grant in preference to Zola who struggled his first season of management quite well without any money to spend?
You'd certainly want to sack the serial loser for such incompetence wouldn't you? Oh yes that would be David Sullivan...

More likely in the summer, no?
You're right, in the world of football, a Premier League club with a network of people behind the scenes, couldn't identify some quick players in January.
They could identify Evan Ferguson, though.
But you're labouring a point here that's secondary to the manager. You annoying cսnt.
