The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
There. Resident WHO political commentators and gurus can knock yourselves out in here and conduct your endless bickering. All other threads will be locked.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
I tell you what I have learned , and that’s to actually read the thing I’m talking about:
“As we've been reporting, the US economy shrank in the first three months of 2025, according to the latest figures released by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis. This was driven by a drop in government spending and a surge in imports - which count against growth - as firms raced to get good into the country ahead of tariffs.”
That was in there from the get-go, as are many other similar commentaries from economists, analysts etc etc.
There’s no win in this like I told you before. The inflationary impact of the tariffs is crystal clear, let’s see how much the American consumer is prepared to swallow.

I read enough. Like usual it didn’t tell the whole story. Which is why you posted it. And there you were thinking you had a win. You’ll never learn. You lap up any propaganda you can find. I wonder how many people it scared into selling their positions in stocks?

You have to stop listening to these left wing media outlets, it’s all propaganda and it’s all nonsense.
The following is a tweet from Charlie Kirk.
Feel free to verify CNBC.
The Democrats are out in force this morning claiming the sky is falling and a recession is imminent because GDP shrunk in Q1 by 0.3%. Wrong.
This was a one-off.
CNBC: "Imports soared 41.3% for the quarter, driven by a 50.9% increase in goods. Imports subtract from GDP, so the contraction in growth may not be viewed as negatively given the potential for the trend to reverse in subsequent quarters."
Core GDP was UP 3%
Private investment surged 22%And why do you suppose imports soared? Nothing to do with getting ahead of the tariffs?? What does that tell you about the tariffs? It’s obvious why they soared they were front running the tariffs. So the propaganda BBC article you posted was disingenuous, wasn’t it?
Did you read the article?

He did make me laugh with his comment on how maybe American kids should only need 2 dolls and not 30. Don’t worry about the company that is selling 30 dolls and now only sells 2.He's a fucking moron!
Did you see his interview with Terry "Never heard of You, but chose you" Moran and Trumpsters insistence that Abrego Garcia actually has MS13 tattooed on his knuckles and that it wasnt photoshopped. You literally could not find a more stupid man on this planet! But Nutsack wont hear anything negative about him...!
Big win for Trump and Ukraine. The mineral deal was just signed.

I think anyone pretending Garcia isn't MS13 is far more moronic. Wanting to make him a martyr and pin up boy for the Democrats is even more insane than Starmer welcoming clarity on what a man and a women are.

The numbers will tell that story without question. Balance of trade (especially with China), inflation, jobs & manufacturing/production in some key industries.

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Out of interest what’s it gonna take for you to admit Trump was right?
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Your buddy Ray Dalio wasn’t very complimentary about the tariffs and what they will trigger.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Let’s see the details of his revised trade agreements. Personally I hope we shift away from China and into India. We’ll see.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Just out of interest, what would it take for you to admit Trump was wrong on tariffs?
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
I actually agree with you on this. It’s a stupid mistake, should have kept his mouth shut.

Mad dog.
Remember when Starmer was insisting Boris should resign over Pincher pinching some blokes arse?
Let's wait and see how long it takes 2TK to comment on the episode you highlighted.

Swiss. wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025, 16:02That;'s because the Tarffis will cause inflation in the US. Assumimg the UIS suppliers pass on the tariff costs to the consumer. The question is will the public buy american or more to the point has for example the US motor industry have the capacity to fill the gap in orders? If not these things take time and in the short term the markets re being killed. Tariffs don't work and Trump could put the world into recession.
WOW thanks for the insight.
