Or perhaps not everyone's as obsessed with what Spurs do as you obviously are ? You sound like those wankers up north of Hadrian';s wall who think that everything in the garden is rosy if you beat the other lot. Even if you lose to Saint fucking Mirren next match. Pathetic.

Hard to disagree with any of that fella
Trouble is, the last time we had a concerted effort against the scum at the head of the table, it was derailed by supposed 'hard-core' West Ham fans.
I remember the threats dished out. By them.
I can only assume they were scared shitless by a well known associate of Sully (LF).
A fair few of us lost dough, so am not sure too many want to revisit the shit show that we had before.

If Kretinsky and the Gold family trust wanted him out as top dog they could do it. But the fact they haven't done it tells us they're happy with the way things are. It really is that simple.
Anyone who thinks a heavy spanking by Spurs might see Potter get the elbow may well be right. But they'd have to be really stupid if they thought Sullivan would follow him out of the exit door. Maybe they are dumb enough to think that. But if we replace Potter and bring in another failed manager currently out of work, step forward Sean Dyche, it will suddenly put everything in the wacky world of West Ham then they really are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Re: Potter Out
360, we could go around on this all day ( well you know me, I can bore everyone to death
) but Kudus, Alvarez, Soucek, Emerson and others, yes they have played more of a possession game at other clubs or for their national teams but imo the Premier League is a whole step up from any other, and definitely national team games, in terms of pace, physicality and intensity. Also they will have likely played in more balanced squads too where there are players in central midffield, defence etc that compensate for their deficiencies in pace, athleticism et . Its what Rice was doing for us for a while.
Im not saying just getting any 2 central midfielders, and another central striker will be an instant “silver bullet” or cure because we have to get recruitment right if the manager / any manager ( the right players for once with the correct profiles, attitudes ) wants to move totally away from low block, low possession and direct counters. But if we do get a couple of young, athletic types with pace, strength, stamina and decent technique and a centre forward ( so we have a couple to cover 90 mins each week) , Im thinking, even under Potter we will see a marked improvement. There are better managers than him no doubt but I just cannot see Potter being binned before next season so have to hope for the best outcome.

The problem with winning is that if gets Potter of the hook.
It's a dead rubber so this is game I wouldn't mind seeing Spurs win.

Re: Potter Out
Sir Alf" wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 06:17 360 dont disagree that the system needs to suit the players and that’s part of what Im saying too ( not very well mind). That the squad is still only suited to Moyesball style low block, low possession, direct counter attack football. Moyes tried to get us playing better with the ball a bit in his last season but it failed ( he reverted back to what he knew later on and got some results ), Lopetegui and Potter have both tried and failed to get West Ham playing a possession style. It all traces back to fan unrest (rightly so ) with 30% possession every game, low entertainment value that became a problem once teams wised up to Moyes tactics in the league and we stopped winning ( finished 14th too). Rice leaving made things worse because we failed spectacularly at replacing him and generally getting in players with pace, physicality, stamina to play any other way. Sullivan, I would imagine, stressed the need to change the style under Moyes in response to fan unrest and would have been clear to both Loppy and Potter that this was what they had to do too when they interviewed for the job.
No one realised, or has realised so far, that you need a different profile of player to be good at keeping the ball, pressing, beating the opposition press, withstanding their press and playing out from the back, thru midfield and making chances. And these types of players, are in high demand (expensive)unless you’re analytics and recruitment are like Brighton, Bournemouth etc and you unearth the “hidden gems” in young, upcoming players.
It why we have regressed. We are where we were 3 seasons or so ago. Still needing a successful rebuild but now without Rce who was singlehandedly masking deficiences of pace, stamina in midfield.
But these same players played for other European teams and their international teams playing possession football, playing out from the back etc. They can ALL play the style of football we want to see. Kudus comes from total football Ajax, Emerson for Italy brought up in Brazil. Paq, even Soucek plays progressive football for the Czech team. Soler was at PSG that do nothing but play progressive passing football.
it’s the coaches we have that don’t know how to implement the style, not the players. The players have all played that way in other places.
for example, when Scamaca came Antonio said that the coach wanted him to do what Antonio does. And scamaca couldn’t. He wasn’t used to having no support/link up play like Antonio was. And Moyes wasn’t prepared to make a system fit the player he bought so it didn’t work.
