WHUFC West Ham vs Spurs | PL | 4.5.25 | Predictions and Match Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

There won't have been too many matches this season where we go in as relatively strong favourites with this bookies, but the game this weekend is one.

Big Ange and his mates come to town, in a game that is most notable (as a footballing spectacle) for being between two teams that can lay claim to having had the most disappointing seasons across all of European football.

Few would have predicted either would be languishing where they are before a ball was kicked, but we go into this game as the 'worst of the rest' with the relegation places sewn up (thank fuck) and all that's left to play for the worst kind of bragging rights.

Let's hope at the end of this one we can be claiming whilst we might be shit, we're not as shit as the Lilleywhites from North London.

Team I'd like to see:
Areola

Wan Bissaka Mavropanos Todibo Scarles

Soucek Alvarez Paqueta

Bowen Fullkrug Kudus

I'd have Kilman out for this one. He's made some high profile cock ups in recent weeks, and Mavropanos is deserving of the start. JWP has been an ever present non-entity so I'd have the fight brought by Alvarez back for this one in a game where we're likely to be on the counter, with Paqueta looking his best in games when he's dropped back to make the play.  Soucek remains our second most likely goal threat so has to play, and the forward line looks so much more functional with the big German in.

It feels an easy team to pick, with the only real conundrum Scarles or Emerson...but I'd bring the home grown talent in for this one...quite simply it will mean more to him.

Prediction: 1-1

Feels like this will be a game with added meaning this season purely for the lack of other interest. Spurs of course are still fighting in Europe, but whilst their fans claim it's our cup final not theirs, they always seem pretty bothered when we fuck them over.

But continuing the theme of an unsatisfactory season, I'm going for an unsatisfactory result that helps no one, leaves ol' Cock Piss firmly mired in the critics sights, and sees us continue to limp towards the 24/25 finish line.

Half strength Tottenham team & those that played had an eye on the Europa game obviously
Thought we showed a bit more spark than recent home games (difficult not to) but didn’t create enough & our midfield was its normal slow motion shit.
Happy for Soucek, Paqueta & JWP all to be moved on for players who get out of second gear & show some energy & fight.
What was Paqueta doing when Oliver (who was diabolical) called him over after booking him & refused to come over?
He’d obviously said something after the booking as Bowen got called over by Oliver
Easily could have sent him off and probably should have.
Wonder what odds a red card for him were?
Should have been taken off long before that. Gave the ball away in dangerous positions again & again  & a couple should have been goals

That ladyboy Richarlison likes a dive & that Mikey Moore … sure he isn’t a fat Sunday league player they picked up on the drive to the ground?

Not saying we were good, but if we’d approached the Southampton game like this one it would have been an easy win.

JWP is a likeable bloke but he’s an absolute handbrake.

I thought we played quite well today and should have had a penalty for the Davies hand ball.

Overall a draw was probably a fair result.

what is concerning is that want can’t beat Spurs reserves especially how crap they have been.

I suspect that they have by far the easiest fix and for us a relegation battle looms for next season.

He is the embodiment of our transfer policy. Sign the wrong players for appearances sake and then never play them. Potter clearly can’t have wanted him here so why the fuck is he?

AWB was already having a great season, and Bowen even though out of position most games & playing in a shit team/system continues to work hard. I can't think of any other positives

On what planet is Kilman an ever present pick? The bloke is dogshit

I think this is a key point. Who is Potter improving?

Genuinely, I can’t think of a single player who has  improved under a manager now in month 5. And improving this lot was a very low bar following Lopetegui.

When is Potter going to show us something? Anything?

L’il Stalin was right to offer him a six-month contract. And wrong to relent and go higher!

Two woeful sides, managed by over-rated duds, playing out a dead rubber game because, incredibly, there were three worse teams than them this season.

Makes you glad to be alive, eh?!

We learnt nothing we didnt know. As a team we are as athletic as Frankenstein after a night on the piss.

AWB, Bowen and that was it. Well actually Cresswell did ok at the back for an old boy. He talks and it helps.

Based on today Im not 100% sure its all down to Potter and Loppy although picking Soucek in a 2 man midfield was always going to hinder our chances.  I suppose the question is whether any manager, like this Perrierra at Wolves, could get a lot more out of this squad than Potter and Loppy have? Maybe they could? We will never know.

We tried to things a bit quicker today but we are still so slow and not strong enough collectively to open teams up.

New central midfield, striker and goalkeeper ate priorities.

We’re undoubtedly relegation candidates if we fvck up recruitment yet again because lets face it, Potter will ne here at the start of next season and if it is all down to him that we are so crap, we are gonna need a few decent players coming in to compensate for him

Not able to watch but sounds like two clubs in a right state at the moment. I don’t think it will be lost on the ruthless and relatively ambitious spurs hierarchy who will probably pull out all the stops it will take to right their decline. They have a similar conundrum to what we had with Moyes, having a manager potentially about to win a euro cup but stinking the league out, wonder if he gets sacked over the summer

The spiv cսnt who owns west ham probabaly couldn’t give 2 shits about where we finish so long as it’s not the bottom 3 and even then probably couldn’t care less. We are run like Arkwright’s cccccorner shop and it shows.

Two very poor teams in a poor quality Premier League who are lucky that there are three unbelievably crap teams below them.  Only two I would keep arew Bowen and AWB although I fear Bowen may not be here next year, and who would blame him.

Not a single academy player in the squad for the second week in a row.

Despite a promising start when he gave Scarles a start in the cup Potter is as cowardly as all our other managers when it comes to giving youth a chance.

What is the point of Ings and Rodriguez on the bench?

Yet another boring home game the punters have endured. This relegation form under Potter is nothing short of disgraceful. If you can’t beat this shitty Spurs team you might as well give up. Which I hope Potter does.
