West Ham Essex?

Post Pub Bigot »

"Geo and Gonzo discuss what could happen if inventors bought the land around the ground, and new owners built a new ground for us in Essex. Link: https://youtu.be/7ly64pzBCNE?si=cGxKgZToao5WFi-- If that were to happen, how would that make you feel? The main argument seems to be that moving could work as Essex is the heartland of our support. However, where in Essex could handle the 60,000 people? Another reason it would be problematic is because where we are ships in people from different parts of the south-east. Moving to Essex makes that journey difficult for people. Personally I think it would be an horrific idea. I’m an East Ender and have no affiliation or attachment to the county, and moving the club further east would be a nail in the coffin of the football club for me. In fact, moving to other parts of East London would be out of the question. Let’s imagine the club decided on a plot of land in Chingford! Technically East London, but no connection to the club or its history."

I think the problem is that the LLDC can’t go on losing £20+m each year running a stadium for WHU and Athletics paid for by London taxpayers. Then there is the issue that it won’t last another 90 years apparently. WHU investors can expect the future opportunity to take over the stadium and a surrounding area for a nominal price to relieve taxpayer funding. That gives development opportunities should we move out and leave a demolished stadium on premium development land. I guess the stadium footprint would be worth enough and a profitto build a new stadium in Essex hence the speculation. West Ham London logo would need changing and I doubt LLDC will be so easy to pull their knickers down next time so I reckon we’ll be in the bowl for a long time yet…

I guess the other point Gonzo is making is that the stadium was built to be temporary... he keeps saying the roof is leaking and can't last forever and were sitting on scaffolding etc etc and apart from it being a shit view and looks a bit crap with all the gaps does anyone notice that? Cant say I have.. but ideally if a rich oil baron comes in to invest and we only cost say £6-700m would buying the stadium and knocking it down to build a new one be cost effective would it boost our value by the same spend .. we'd surely have a lot more control over income etc from other events as well as full income from catering tickets etc... What I cant see is someone coming in and immediately moving us to Essex.. that wouldnt sit well with the overall fanbase and they wouldn't want to upset us that quick...

Gonzo = Agent Provocateur. They all get their info from the same source.(In our case. A piss stained one.) Then put a personal twist on it. Put it out there. Stir the shit a little. Then watch the hits come in. Rinse and repeat. The whole YT thing. Is about how Joe Public swallow’s you’re poison.

Knock down those flats in Upton Park and rebuild the stadium back where it should have stayed all along

"the 'deal of the century' would involve much better returns on the astronomically high catering revenue, for example. We pay a low rent, granted, but the shitheap already looks run down, and we're missing out on a vast amount of income from other streams. The deal really isn't all that great. The deal of the century, is the tv deal"

"You don't need to be a genius to spot that Sullivan's god is the pound note. But I don't think a lot of his criticism is reasonable. He has pushed WH on to being a top club with over 60,000 gates whether you like the stadium or not. He has spent big on many occasions to improve us. He backed Pellegrini big time and Moyes has enjoyed more financial backing than any previous manager. West Ham still have way cheaper season ticket prices than Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham. Personally I think it's just nonsense speculation because Sullivan is looking to sell some of his shares to another investor. He's 75 and already a billionaire. I think it's quite likely that he's tidying up his business empire. And you don't go to every game you can possibly get to and not be a real fan..."

"what the board loving bootlickers on here, and in particular that fucking cringe worthy aussie cսnt fail to grasp is sullivan and the venture capitalist czech never have been or ever will be west ham fans. their God is a pound note, and if they get the opportunity to rip up that lease and sell the land to developers (like they fucking did with the old ground), they'll do it and won't give a fuck about the consequences"

Did we not have a 99 year lease at £2m a year? Seems better value to us that spending £500m plus on a new stadium in Romford market

"This is going to be a long intl break, according to the usual YT channels we are moving to Essex, 25% of the club is going up for sale (even though we can't sell 10% that's been available for years, and the Gold family can't sell their shares) and we might be signing Ivan Toney!"

wouldn't shock me at all if this was the long term plan for the toxic midget cսnt when he got us away from upton park. I'm also sure kretinsky's only here until the land is sold and he can treble/quadruple his initial stake. this is what happens when you have scum running your club

I am in West London and usually get the Elizabeth line home from games via Paddington. I am always surprised how many fans I see that are travelling west from Paddington after a game. Nothing like the platforms going East from Stratford into Essex though. It would be fare to say about 80% of our fanbase must live out that way. Still makes no sense to move the stadium out there as it must be easier for everyone in Essex to get into Stratford than to get to other places in Essex. Essex doesn't have central location.

Stratford is ideal in terms of transport links and the number of pubs restaurants etc it is just the configuration of the ground that is the problem. Those who work in the city can also get a few beers down there neck after work before going to the game. Living near the end of the met line I would never get home from night games if we moved to deepest Essex.
