Him, tigheter with a lot of others of course, is a reason we are shit.
He recently won a fucking Cup with us, as well as 3 consecutive seasons in Europe (as well as 3 too half finishes) at the heart of our Team and is on course for scoring double figures again in our most recent 2 seasons - as well as 5 assists to go with those 19 goals in recent times!
For context Bowen only has 2 more goals in the League than Soucek.
And that's before we even get on to all his quality defensive work like winning blocks/interceptions/tackles/headers (one of the best in the air) stats that get overlooked.
He is definitely not a big reason as to why we are 'shit'.

Re: Tomas Soucek
You are blogging him up as he was one of the best midfielders around. He is popping up with a goal noe and then, but you forget about the he doesn't add to the game.
Tell me one top 10 team (England, Germany, Italy, Spain) that would put him in their first XI?
I would not be shocked if someone actually wpuldnpop up with a team, but i think it's none.
He is an old fashioned box player at best, not suited for the speed and agility in today's top football.

Re: Tomas Soucek
Can't argue with his goal record and as someone pointed out crucial goals. We can all see his limitations on the ball but selling him would be a mistake in my opinion.

The conundrum is that you have to live with his lack of pace but it's really not hard to see why he plays so many minutes because the otherwise lack of goals in the side is forcing the managers hand. Selling him would be a calculated risk as replacing him with another misfiring dud could see us in real trouble.
Yeah - The conundrum with Soucek is how to get the best from him by playing him in the right mix of other players. Play him with the wrong players and he and them will look shit.

That'll be because some of us enjoy watching Champions League games. Just because you probably don't, doesn't mean others don't.

Ah yes, of course you remember that one random game he played for Slavia Prague before he even signed for us.

Tomas is a box to box player, he was only used as a DM because Rice wanted to impress potential buyers and the silly jock fucker allowed it

Its getting on these days in the premier league. We have one of the oldest squads don't we? I think the 30 argument was to back up the point that we should cash in now while his stock is high and being 30, his value will start to decrease now with age even if he carries on popping up with goals.

Re: Tomas Soucek
And I've challenged what was apparently marked in his stats as to his contributions in the game and I've given examples to counter it. And they are just the ones I can remember without going over everything that he did hence the 'losing count' comment as there were so many things he did positively. Sorry if none of it fits your narrative that Soucek just doesn't cut it for you.

Re: Tomas Soucek
When did I ask you for examples?
You said " I actually lost count the amount of times he won back the ball for us"
I made the point that the official stats say 1 tackle, 1 interception. That's the OFFICIAL stats for these things, not your opinion of what you apparently saw. I've said I can't remember that level of detail, so you're debating that with yourself, like you was debating with yourself on the HOTY thread.
All very strange. Anyway, you win son, he'll be here next season, no doubt starting, defending corners and all that.

Re: Tomas Soucek
First you want examples, then when I recall some of them, it's still not good enough and you put your fingers in your ears. Doesn't change the fact he still had a decent game whilst also scoring his 9th goal in the process, standing up to be counted this season yet again when so many other player's haven't. 'Vieira, amazing'.. anymore exaggerations you want to use?
And fuck knows why you're babbling on about HotY when all I've said is he's been in my top 3 best performers this season. He didn't even get my vote to win it even though he's still had a good season.
Of all the player's we've had not performing (or indeed playing) for us in recent times, you don't give them half the flak you do Soucek, it's laughable. His contribution to our Club has been very significant.

Re: Tomas Soucek
Fucking hell, stop being such a delicate flower. You're a relative newbie on here, it's not KUMB where it's like a DEI workshop, everyone cunts each other off on here and never used to take themselves too seriously. You plank. I can't compete with that shit you just come up with about the game yesterday, I wouldn't be able to relay all that 5 minutes later if I watched it again.
Listen, I'm not getting involved in a goose/nutsin constant back and forth, you rate this lad like the modern day Patrick Vieira, good for you.
I've said my piece, especially the bit about him being a Moyes prototype player, which is ironic from your part. I'll just leave you with this to get you even more wound up...
Given he is as amazing as you keep going on about, and he nearly has double figure goals to his name from defensive midfield as you've pointed out... in such a diabolical season for the team, why is it only you and 1 other crank who has him in the conversation for HOTY? Surely he's a shoe-in?
Anyway, all the best, son.

Now who's being hysterical and childish, Eerie? When you want clear examples of what he contributed you give that kind of ridiculous response.

Re: Tomas Soucek
I think discussing Soucek is an important debate regarding West Ham as some of us see the game played differently.
For instance off the top of my head I can recall him blocking shots from the likes of Fernandes, Mainoo and Erkisen on the edge of our box, or pressing Man Utd defenders which pressured them in to turning possession back over to us. Or another time he wins the ball in the air beating 2 player's to the ball before then winning a corner after playing it off one of them. Or the way he ragdolled Maguire preventing him from ever getting an easy opportunity to get on the end of crosses in to our box. Another occasion I can remember him taking the ball off Hojlund before then being involved himself in 2 quick 1 touch passes that he sets Wan-Bissaka off up field to chase that leads to an attack. Or another time he wins a challenge at the back stick before winning another corner for the Team.
There is so many different positive contributions he made I honestly cannot remember all of them off the top of my head, yet some believe all he really did was score, make a tackle and that's about it anonymous for the rest of the game.

You're the one coming across as unhinged right now Eerie. Continuously digging out Soucek the way you have, especially when he just had a decent performance against Man Utd at Old Trafford in a rare 2-0 win there.

Regardless, the way you've been on here the last couple of years over Moyes & now Potter, you've got some front. You're hysterical at times. I'm pretty level headed, i just happen to be right most of the time. On the other hand, you've had some shockers.Conclusive? It was nothing of the sort. I'll re-watch the game at some point and point out exactly what he contributed towards our convincing win at Old Trafford.
As for Moyes and Potter, I've called them both spot on.
it's how hysterical you've been about them. You backed Lopetegui to the hilt, he was shit, and Potter you've been apoplectic, unhinged at times.
and come on, watching the game again ffs, look back at what you said, you were clearly wrong, just front it.

Re: Tomas Soucek
We need to make wholesale changes this summer. Four players are being released. Maybe five with Antonio. Soler wil be going back to PSG. Hopefully Rodriguez will be going back to Spain. We might also be losing Paqueta or Kudus or both. That’s potentially nine players we need to get in as upgrades or replacements. With that in mind, we’re probably better off keeping Soucek for a bit of stability.
