American Investor
It’s been everywhere the last couple of days that an American Investor has started the ball rolling to buy the Golds shares. So who is it? And will it lead to a full takeover? My first guess is it’s something to do with Tripp smith starting a takeover with his mates…

Be careful what you wish for.
...actually don't worry at all. It was just a protest about fossil fuels as one of their sponsors is an oil company. At their first home game after being crowned champions of their sport.
He sounds alright to me.
Get him and his fossil fuels in.
Will the fuel in question improve the fossils with whom we will be storming into next season

Re: American Investor
It's Mark Walter who's linked, according to that report, not Todd Boehly.
He was voted the most likeable MLB owner, so he can't be too bad.

Does this mean that players we buy will be unceremoniously dumped in neighbours' gardens or, perhaps, safely delivered to the nearest available wheelie-bin?
Can't see Sullivan coughing up for Prime.
Don’t they just provide the analytics platform?

Re: American Investor
Agree. And you'd think they would want to parrot this as loudly as possible so all the rags and news outlets reported it if that was the case. Don't think it's something the club are putting out there really. It's low hanging fruit going after people who are on sites like these and follow WHU youtube channels. A pretty small audience of those already most likely to renew regardless, and allegedly NOT the sort of people they want turning up anyway.

Re: American Investor
Not 1 person is buying a season ticket based on some obscure investment rumours off the net.
By the way, who are all these sad wankers that start up these youcunt fan channels?? It's getting proper weird how many there are now and people lapping up their nonsense.

That'll keep him busy for years to make them profitable I reckon. He's always had a lot of finger's in big pies. I can't see that stopping him buying us out if or when he wants to. He purchased a shitload of shares in the Club whilst in the process of taking over the Post Office, so can picture him buying Sullivan out as well.
Yes but if you check his background he nearly always buys minority shareholdings. This must be because he sees opportunities in the businesses he buys into but doesn't want to control them. The PO changed that and he now has total control. so, he now has to change PO into a modern parcel delivery specialist to make it pay. I very much doubt Kretinsky can be arsed to take Sullivan's place.

There's a LOT of hope in there, Pub.
Don't blame you - that's what this club and ownership has done to us!
Chances of it happening? Less than Zero. But there's more to us than Wrexham's chequebook football shit.

Re: American Investor
Here we go again. Season ticket sales not as good as desired by Sullivan; West Ham not such an attractive proposition for incoming talent given the shit football, poor manager and allegedly toxic atmosphere around the club. Add to that Gold's estate coming out of probate and the time limit on payback on the ground expiring we have all the ingredients to drum up interest in the club by suggesting an imminent takeover/substantial cash injection.
My guess is it is total bollocks.
Reason 1. Who, in their right mind would want to buy a shareholding where they are subservient to Sullivan having done the due diligence on club growth under his stewardship? Yes, Sullivan and Co. have maxed out on the ground deal and significantly enhanced the value of the business. But they have failed to capitalise on European success and that lack of team progression will reduce the value by driving away the tourists, retail sales and reducing TV income due to no European games and reduced national exposure because the football is so dull. Presently the trajectory from both a business and footballing perspective is downwards.
Reason 2. The board is already dysfunctional with Kretinsky (Steidten); Sullivan(Lopetegui); Brady(Potter); all wielding their "influence" to detrimental team performance effect. Fortunately last years promoted teams were poor and Tottenham and Manchester United are both train wrecks albeit both will be buoyed this year by European income.
Reason 3. Even if Kretinsky and Sullivan offer to reduce their shareholding to enable a third "equal partner" share how will this work? It is a mess already so unless the third party comes with a PEACEKEEPING FORCE or a clear leadership mandate a 3 headed beast is worse than the current arrangement.
Reason 4. "We are skint". Even though the ground costs us next to nothing (unlike the rest of the premier league) and the training ground is mortgaged. Is this a firesale?
Reason 6. If there was serious interest in the club then activity of a legal nature would be underway. This would not be in the public domain as the NDA's etc. would limit, not enhance, what gets into the press and onto social media. If you look back to the coming of Kretinsky little was know until the deal was announced.
Unless the little fella is selling up (please, please, please let that be true) This looks like the annual tempting of season ticket holders to renew.
Reason 7. Can anyone seriously see Sullivan relinquishing his fiefdom?
Act 2 to this nonsense will be "working tirelessly" to secure big name signings. Expect this to ramp up between the last few weeks of the season ticket renewal window and the end of the transfer window. With the usual disappointing results (apart from for the usual agents)
Unless there is a full takeover, rather than an investor it is hard to see where a serious player would be in anyway interested other than for short term gain and that could really do some damage and surely the last sort of investor the supporters would want. (Carson Yeung anyone?)

Re: American Investor
"One thing is clear: Tripp Smith didn’t buy into West Ham to sit quietly in the background."
Yes, he did exactly that. He bought his current share in 2017 - eight years ago - and has done very little since, except (wisely) watch the value of his shareholding soar.
I do wish these amateur bloggers would apply at least a tiny bit of journalistic rigour to what they do, rather than regurgitate the warm diarrhoea they've been spoon-fed by some trained monkey.
