Goodison - goodbye to the grand old lady

Final home game tomorrow after 133 years. 

For the football romantics, another one of the traditional old grounds. I remember being in there for the end of season game when we nearly won the league... great West Ham support .

A couple of non - Everton statistics ;

in 1966 it staged both a World Cup Quarter final and Semi final

Went up there when we got a 2-2 draw towards the end of 2009/10 season (Zola). Though they put away fans in the corner, the stand with it's upper tier meant that you could generate a huge amount of noise. Non stop chant of Claret and Blue Army all the way through the second half. Some Everton fans applauded us as we left. Signs of mutual respect broke out.

It repeatedly looked like it was going to be a bad day. They scored first, then Mido missed a pen. (How did he ever sign for us?). Da Costa equalised. He certainly enjoyed a goal. They went 2-1 up with 5 minutes to go and then Faubert launched a cross into the box and Ilan scored a wonderful diving header. Happy memories of Goodison.

Been there a few times but never saw us win.  Remember a 4-0 thrashing when Beardsley and Beagrie tore us apart.   Also saw Brazil play there in 1995 against Japan.

only seen us battered up there, but always had a good experience with their fans and the locals. no doubt ladyferret will be travelling up to rim the moyesiah before kick off

Been over there more than most West Ham because my father/brother in law are Toffees. Quite like them as a club, really like Goodison and lucky enough to have been in the away end this season. 

Villa Park and Elland Road are the last remaining proper stadiums left.
