Magnesium Glycinate
Am approaching 60 and am waking up two or three times per night. Not always for a piss.
Sleep pattern's totally fucked up so am constantly knackered come the early evening. Have read this can help.
Any other old cunts on here tried it?
More importantly, did you notice a difference?

Same age group as the OP and suffer the same stuff, as i get older sleep less and wake frequently
tried the magnesium as also read it can help but TBH it did fuck all!
However one thing i have found helpful has been Phenergan (,Active ingredient: Promethazine hydrochloride) not sure if its available in the UK but you don't need a prescription here in Australia but they do keep it behind the counter so not on display to help yourself, first used it when going on a cruise to help with motion sickness but the side affect was a good nights kip
Asked my GP if its ok to take regularly and he said its fine as its just a general antihistamine used for number of reasons, motion sickness and allergy's like hay fever etc so not like its addictive or will cause problems.
I take the 10mg tabs and they cost bugger all for a pack of 50, don't take every night but if i know i have full on day or a long day take one just before bed, sometimes only take half a tab and that seems to work, they come in 25mg as well but don't find them any better than the 10mg.
Oh, and it helps if you have beer with the tab
warnings on the box about not taking alcohol with them as it can make you drowsy, saw that as a positive!!!!!

I found that subtle changes to the lighting in the evening helped my body prepare for sleep. Table lamps as opposed to ceiling lamps after sunset, no distractions in the bedroom (phone, TV, alarm clock, etc.).
Somebody on here recommended a book about just this problem 5/6 years ago. I read it and lent to a friend who had a similar problem.
Can't remember the name of the book or author, and the person I lent it to came over all dead earlier this year (while I was away) and everything his widow determined was his (including my books) were destroyed in a fit of pique (on account of her losing his UK pension money).
It also recommended not eating after 6pm/sundown and also only drinking water after that time.
Tried those 2 for a couple of months and it made no difference to my sleep patterns - but if I do have a drink at home I now start & finish earlier and my overall consumption has dropped.
I used to create an "aims and achievements" list when I was working which also included domestic stuff, and found going through that every evening crossing off stuff I'd done and adding new stuff that needed doing helped for a while as I didn't need to bother remembering "things to do" as it was already remembered on a bit of paper.
