I've seen a few people suggest we'll do ok/alright next season (not digging you out here, Eerie).

I'm pretty concerned about getting relegated as things stand, if I'm honest, looking at the teams coming up and looking at the 2 teams that might finish below us.

Why would they give Potter a red cent to spend when he can't fucking manage the squad he has correctly ffs. I wouldn't trust any transfer decision he makes, to be honest, after the clusterfuck of a team selection he makes EVERY fucking game. You cannot make 4 subs at once, almost every game, and someone not question your ability to field a correct starting line up let alone let him squander millions on new players. As for example E. Ferguson. Sack him as soon as the season ends and don't continue to compound the original error by letting him carry on.

Think it was Pardew on the radio last night that made the point that some managers make sure they just do enough so to keep their jobs. As opposed to actually trying to make a Club the very best it can be which can involve taking risks. Potter's managerial outlook reeks of self preservation tactics although he's not even good at that either.

The whole keeping the score down by flooding the Team with defenders so we at least stay in games bollocks is a sad state of affairs for a Club who once prided itself on attacking Teams. We were never obsessing about keeping scorelines down, it was more about trying to score more than the opposition and if it meant letting in some goals to achieve that then so be it.

Yup, that's the absolute backbreaker for Potter or any other manager. They'll get a few players we NEED but then have to shoehorn some players they didn't want or need into the team because of the owner's proclivities.

All of them have a hand tied behind their back when trying to assemble the squad they want. There are other bad owners in this division but at least they mostly just 100% back their manager and recruitment experts to do their jobs. Sullivan has to be the worst of the lot and by a distance. (Ironically Potter was working under the other worst one playing fantasy football in his previous job, before he calmed the fuck down) Nothing more dangerous than (in football terms in this instance) an idiot who thinks they are a genius. Trouble is every other club is getting more and more savvy in recruitment and squad building. Now it's medium and smaller clubs being clever to be competitive, and we are getting left behind in brainpower as well as strategy. It's not just financial power that creates success any longer. It's talent spotting and clever thinking.

I just hope this takeover talk is genuine and amounts to something. It's the only way out of this spiral of shitness.

Soler - Alvarez - Paqueta

Over

Soucek - Rodney - JWP

Every day of the week, twice on Saturdays, thrice on Sundays.

I'm not saying that midfield is anything special, but it's miles better than those 3 fucking plodders. He's had ample chance to do it, and it's clearly why Alvarez is fucked off, he was playing him as an attacking midfielder with the chuckle brothers behind him.

There are changes he's had at his fingertips, not to make us world beaters but to give us a fighting fucking chance. His team selections are baffling, verging on dereliction of duty. Add to that the moribund, boring, sideways to-me-to-you style of football that was in fashion 5 years ago, it's been a fucking disaster.

I actually think he'll do 'ok' next season, because we'll buy some better players, and we'll stink the place out but win a few more games which are close, rather than lose them. But it'll be bone-crushingly boring mostly, and will have us in the top half of the bottom half. Some of our fans will be buzzing with that. But this league is not all it's cracked up to be, and if we got a proper manager in, made a few shrewd signings, no reason we couldn't be the season's dark horses.

However, he is here to stay. As with every summer, I'll wipe the slate clean, get behind him, and hope for a miracle.

This season has been an outright fucking disaster. I can count the amount of games I enjoyed on one hand.
The main issue for me was the transfers in summer. Tim/Loppy/Sulivan filled the spine of our team with such cumbersome shit, on top of the cumbersome shit we already had. Throw in Kudus' terrible form & the Paqueta stuff - I just feel any manager would struggle. I also think Potter has been piss poor so far and we seem to be going backwards, but Im willing to cut a little slack based on what he inherited.
This summer is massive for the fans, the club, for Sullivan and for him. Do I have faith we'll get it right? No.  Do I think changing the manager will make much difference? Also, no, not at this point.

His decision making is constantly wacky. Starting 3 Full Backs in games, with 1 out of position when we have a specialised Left Wing Back/Left Back on the Bench and another as a Centre Half. Soucek as a No. 10 when Paqueta also kicks his heels on the Bench. Chooses arguably our worst player in the Squad who's past it over fitter, younger, better midfielders than him like Alvarez or Soler. Then playing with 0 Strikers, even though he has not 1 but 2 specialist Strikers that are continually ignored on the Bench. 9 defensive player's and yet we still concede 2 at Home and it should have been more.

I bet the player's avoid him at all costs in the canteen for fear of being bored to death.

And so much for not conceding early goals anymore. If he buys 1 thing in the Summer, it's a new king size blanket to put over his head. 😴

He fucking needs to hit the ground running.
This summer's transfer window is going to be absolutely massive. We all know what we need, and fucking hell we need a lot, but can we get it, and when we do, will it have a positive effect on our play?

So many parts of the squad need to be basically gutted. Our centre mid is just a complete disaster.

I wonder a bit who people would play in midfield out of the squad we have to cure the problem of a slow, turgid group in there
Could a different manager get the current squad to function better?

Personally I don’t understand playing Rodriguez ahead of Soler & we need to play a centre forward
Obviously Rodriquez is going and I’d be moving Soucek & JWP on
Can we find 3 more suitable players with not much money?
Hmmm
If it’s not Potter another manager … our 4th in 12 months … has the same task

I was backing him and part of me still thinks give him the summer and see how we start next season.   But it has been a massively underwhelming start by Potter.  Was hoping a win yesterday and against Ipswich may have shown promise but can see us losing or getting a draw at Portman Rd to finish off a season to forget.

Wouldn't blame Bowen going in the summer as he deserves to be playing for a top 4 side in Champions league.

Some of you should be worrying more about big Ange at your own club than worrying about West Ham.
Of course you're backing him, you've never parted with a penny of your own dough to go over that shithole of a stadium to cheer on the team, so it's no skin off your nose what manager is in charge.

Hollow words cheerleading on here. Put your money where your mouth is and go over there to watch the shit he's been serving up, you'll soon change your mind.

Ferguson was a player he wanted in the last window which the Club managed to bring in for him and he barely played him at all.

The good news is we have relegated Ipswich next who have won only once in the last 18 League matches and they've only won once at Home all season long in the Premier League. Surely not even Potter can fuck that up.

Is anyone still backing Potter now? I'm not sure there is.

It's unlikely he will get the sack, simply based on Sullivan not wanting to look a dick again. But deep down is Sullivan content to pay £100m in transfers under Potter. Almost certainly not. So it would seem that Sullivan is now sitting there thinking how he gets out of this situation with the least damage. Is it get Potter the players he wants and hopes it works? Or just get rid now and look a dick?

Thing is, Sullivan is probably one of the most hated men ever associated with West Ham and so looking a dick isn't that much of a deal, so he may as well just get rid now. Slither off to his rock. Then come back out in the sunshine to bathe in the glory of what will no doubt he his next terrible appointment.

As much as Forest annoyed me by falling over everytime we went near them I was inpressed on how Nuno changes his team and formation sometimes against different opposition.  It seems we have had successive managers in Moyes, JL and Potter who stick with what they believe in even if they don't have the players to operate in that system.  Any team who has Soucek, JWP and Guido is going to get passed around easily and that showed yeasterday again.  The only argument you could make for Potter is that he inherited this crap but I am certainly not convinced that he can bring the players in to make it work or even have the finance to do so.

Cos for some reason there’s a tonne of people who won’t accept that he’s done a worse job than Lopetegui until he’s brought in HIS players

it’s like comparing 2 drivers in F1 who are on the same team, they’re both driving a car with the same engine, but imagine making an argument that the weaker driver would be better if he had a faster car
And to continue the analogy imagine the driver is driving with the brakes on and only gets into 2nd gear!

It is clear we won’t replace him.   No way will we sack him before  Christmas.  I also doubt we’ll transform the squad as required, mainly because we won’t recoup anywhere near as much as we formed out in most of the players that will leave.
it will be more of the same.  The ground is dead and we desperately need something to lift that shit hole.  You could tell after that little cameo when Bowen scored and there was a bit of niggle what the fans want.  Fuck knows why we don’t get that, but clearly Potter can’t create that in the team.  Probably because he’s a fucking wet PE teacher type who players get away with murder with.
either way he ain’t for me.  His interviews are worse the Lopi and I though that was near on impossible.

It’s also been reported that Fonseca made Sullivan the offer that he could put a clause in his contract that if he didn’t get us in the top 10 after taking over from Lopetegui that he could be sacked with no compensation, and Sullivan turned it down cos he thought we should be in the top 10 anyway and that was no achievement
