Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
Never worked out why he became so popular with the powers that be (which was long before his rebirth as a self-appointed guardian of what is right and moral).
I'm just praying for the MeToo lobby to catch up with the narcissistic philanderer

Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
He acts outraged at the the deaths of children in Gaza but repeatedly retweets the war monger Alastair Campbell.
It takes some going to be too far left for the BBC.

Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
I'm not a fan really but he's near retirement age anyway, so he probably thought fuck it. He must have more money than he can ever spend.
I can see him moving into politics or becoming some bullshitter ambassador/spokesperson type who goes to Davos every year.

He might take the Saudi cash in 2034
He also might arrive in America next year & be asked whether he supports Trump & after a quick flick through his tweets be on a quick flight to Guantanamo to have his finger nails pulled out while being waterboarded

Good point, Sven.
He's the type that will gladly sign up to host Qatar's coverage for the World Cup.

Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
Whatever you think of his views he had a choice:
Keep them private & stay on the bbc or say what he wants & eventually be pinged for not being as ‘neutral’ as a bbc presenter needs to be
Seems he is making a lot of money from his podcast empire so won’t be that bothered
Soneone else will pay for him to be at the World Cup in the luxury he has become accustomed to
ps- As a freelancer rather than a bbc employee he didn’t break the rules
Until they changed them to include him

Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
If he worked for virtually any other organisation this wouldn't be an issue. He could puke up tons of his virtue signalling tripe on social media to his little communal narcissist's heart's content.
However, he works for the 'scrupulously impartial' (Arf!) BBC and he broke his employer's own rules multiple times. It's not OUR rules he broke, but the BBC's.
No-one is saying he should not be allowed to make a holy show of himself by mouthing off.
All we are doing is noting the hypocrisy of the BBC in allowing his shtick to continue for so long. Ultimately it would appear it's not his Jew-baiting that was the final straw for his bosses. It's because he criticised one of the bosses for a lack of broadcasting experience.

I don't suppose Gary Lineker's bothered. He's retiring anyway, has made a shit ton of money and for once can relax and enjoy and well earned rest, watching it on the TV with a few nice cold pints. Oh, and can now piss off you right wing snow flakes x10 by tweeting whatever the hell he wants with no BBC breathing down his neck about his views. I look forward to the celebrating by some of you doing a massive u-turn when you find out that less Gary Lineker on the BBC World Cup coverage = more Alex Scott.
No one is celebrating cancel culture, we'd rather it didn't happen. But given one side are getting prison time for speech, do you expect everyone to shrug their shoulders when you cunts get a taste of your own medicine?

Basically Linekers been sent off for dissent.
You could have a point here. But the thing is a lot of the very people making precisely this point are not so nuanced about interpreting comments or attitudes of criticisms aimed at ethnic minorities or women. Like Gary himself when he compared the politicians who wanted to 'stop the boats' to those of Nazi Germany. So hopefully you can see why few have any sympathy for him.

Kane, Rooney, Shearer, Sheringham...take everyone of them over the libtard pant shitter. If I'd thought about for more than 5 seconds I'd have thought of dozens more.
You just like him because you both hate Jews.

Re: Gary Lineker leaving BBC next weekend
A number of posters on here keen to call out racism or xenophobia at every instance seem to have little to say about our Gary's misadventures. Almost if the crime is lesser according to the victim.
I think he was an excellent presenter. But he seemed to tire of football and became more interested in getting his hands dirty with identity politics. Not just his own social media thoughts but his whole business model as he is behind the Rest is Politics podcast. Hoisted by his own petard in the end.
It will be interesting to see what he focusses on next. Probably take some football related role to keep his profile high but I suspect he will now be more involved in left-wing politics than he was before. That's where his heart is now.

Being a good footballer ( he wasn't that special) doesn't mean you can be a sanctimonious prick and not be challenged.

I valued his contribution to England, I just don't like his condescending hypocritical liberal nonsense he peddles at every given opportunity. He never did quite grasp the concept of the BBC being a supposed impartial public service broadcaster.
