Potter has said he wants to trim the squad. He will look at some of the youngsters.
I'd be amazed if we have more than 3 new signings by time first ball kicked unless we get a few freebies inwhy the fuck has he not had a single academy player in the last 4 games and instead gone with players are are not going to be here.
I'll have a go at answering this one. It's because he's a clown. Hth

I get this and I agree with using the youngsters.
But if that were really true, why the fuck has he not had a single academy player in the last 4 games and instead gone with players are are not going to be here.
I really hope he is looking at the youth but despite the early positive signs, he's no different to Moyes and Loppy in his willingness to bed them in.

Re: Tomas Soucek
Having a quick look at his goal contributions in the Premier League alone he manages to score once every 5 matches. Goals either scored or created in the Premier League it's on average once every 4 matches.
Premier League record:
Apps 193 - Goals 36 - Assists 9 - 45 altogether
West Ham career overall:
Apps 244 - Goals 41 - Assists 13 - 54 altogether
Not a single penalty scored
Not that making goals is all he does as he ranks as 1 of the highest at winning headers in the air and all the rest of his battling stats he contributes towards.
We'll do very well replacing all that easily and a player in the Squad I suspect has modest wages compared to others although that's more speculation.

That's pretty much how I see the summer developing too and it sounds about right as long as the incomings are good. Squad too big, full of shit and need to promote some youngsters.

We will need to keep some players in order to maintain some kind of squad and we've already / will lose Coufal, Cresswell, Fabianski, Ings, Soler, Ferguson for definite, and then no doubt a few more such as Kudus, Rodriguez, Aguerd, Zouma.
Whilst it's going to cost a lot of money to rebuild the squad, it's also close to a full first team that needs to be replaced. That is going to take some work.
For me, we keep him for some stability for his attitude and influence and because we'll barely have a squad left in a month or so.
This.
Half the first team are going and most of the first line bencher-warmers.
We have to have some continuity. So, Bowen and Wan-Bisseka stay, then less than ideally perhaps, Soucek and Areola. Is Scarles ready? I hope so. That's still only five. Sommerville, hopefully - six.
The CB's are either permanently crocked or mugs. We need a new GK no.2. We need to replace the full back cover. Antonio is done and needs replacing, so is Ward-Prowse. Then we need to replace the better players who are leaving to pay for all this. I make that about 12 new players.
The squad will need a degree of continuity. They'd better be bloody good offers for any of the six I mentioned.

Re: Tomas Soucek
This fella and his merits, or otherwise, has been discussed to death now, but what all this will come down to is if an acceptable offer comes in for him then he goes. If not, he stays.

Re: Tomas Soucek
Love the bloke. Tremendous attitude. Puts everything into his game. Bleeds for the shirt. When he came brought an enthusiasm and commitment that was desperately needed. Comes across as a top class man who's company you could enjoy. It is almost like watching a fan play for the club, leaves it all on the pitch.
It is no coincidence, however, that his best season was the Covid season. Once scouted, his deficiencies were identified and exposed. Yes, he has a great knack of picking up goals but, his effort and enthusiasm do not make up for his lack of ability and, unless he is prepared to be a box crasher from the bench, the club should thank him and move him on.

Re: Tomas Soucek
The last time Alvarez scored his only Premier League goal for us was on the 2nd March - 2024.
£35.4M well spent.
Anyway, back to cunting off a proper dogshit player, Soucek..

It's the fact that there's someone like your mate Moyes out there who would be willing to spend £20mil on him.
No prizes for guessing why.

That's before we get on to his exceptional professionalism and giving his absolute all to our cause.
As for demanding to start all the time, he's never given that impression and he's actually been dropped to the bench without a hint of kicking up a fuss, willing to do whatever is best for the Team. He's definitely a Team player who puts his own needs secondary to that, another rare quality in a player in today's selfish game.
At £20M I just don't see the overall value in trying to sell him for someone supposedly better and can at least match his goalscoring ability in central midfield. Anyone got any player in mind that could replace all of Souceks battling and goalscoring qualities in the Squad for £20M?Hence why most of us think he is dogshit.
Dogshit, fucking hell

He isn't consistent at all. Hence why most of us think he is dogshit. Sunday against Forest he was dreadful. Spurs at home he was dreadful. Soton at home dreadful.
£20m and we would be pulling someones pants down for a 30 year old who can't run or pass.
There is a reason the only team linked with him is Everton.

Re: Tomas Soucek
Yup, the time is right to cash in and you'd have to just go into it thinking that with a revamped team we'd make up for the goals he scored with more goals coming from more sources through better overall play both in attack or defence.
I like the guy. Absolute model pro and been a great servant and seems like a really good dude, but we need change and if rumours are to be believed, we need every bit of money we can, not only for a rebuild but to not infringe the stupid PSR rules so as one of our highest value players and someone coming onto the downside of his career, he's got to be for sale because his value will only decrease from here on in.
We are already stuck with Kilman for years with no resale value, and half the squad is worth absolutely nothing to anyone thanks to the previous two managers, the former TD and mostly the idiot owner.
Everyone aside from AWB, Bowen, LG and Summerville have to be available for transfer, for whatever we can get. AWB and Bowen being the only real pieces which should be sacrosanct, and the other two because unless we are really desperate, we'd be possibly forgoing a far larger return selling them now than in 2-3 years time.

Re: Tomas Soucek
It's not about turning a profit on him, it's about getting decent dough for a 30 year old who, if he doesn't scored or defend corners, is a passenger.
If we have any intentions of becoming a footballing side that passes the ball as much as this manager wants, we need better than a bloke that regularly averages 10-15 passes a game from central midfield.

Re: Tomas Soucek
We don't need to turn a profit on Soucek.
He cost us £16m I think and for me he's more than been worth that investment even if we let him go for free.
For that reason, the argument about selling while the stock is high probably doesn't apply to him, AWB or Bowen.
It's just a shame the amount of money we've lost on players in the past that we're so desperate to make as much as we can.
For me, Kudus should be the first out the door because we can potentially still turn a profit on him and it would justify the fee we paid for him. Especially if the Saudi's come knocking.

Me neither.
Not as much as it would surprise me if he broke that golden double figures completed passes barrier in a game.
