Proud 'Welshman' Moore playing as the usual battering ram today. I say Welshman, but he did appear for the England C team.

Gutted for O'Nien, he comes across as genuinely nice in the series too. Compare that with the scummy Sheffield United play on the wing, arms out wide, complaining to restart the game whilst O'Nien is just being walked off. What a scummy cսnt, only needed to wait another 15 seconds.

Agreed - really enjoyed that show, some really nice down to earth people on it too. Would like to see Sunderland win today, just to make that long suffering taxi driver happy.
Exactly that. It wasn’t one of these that just celebrates winning and a clinically run club with no personality where ‘failure’ is not winning a trophy with no real jeopardy if they don’t. This one runs far deeper. The bit aside from the sad end that gets me is in the first ep of the final series they’ve just lost at Wembley again (nine in a row or something wasn’t it?) and the woman turns to the man- can’t remember if she’s crying or not but still gutted nevertheless- and just says ‘why is it never us?’ That feeling we can all just understand and no ‘big club’ or fairweather supporter will ever get.

My Mrs is an Aussie who 'supports' Sunderland. I use the word supports very loosely. I was watching ( the excellent) doc about the club and the Mrs took a liking to some old Doris pouring loads of cups of tea. Mrs took a shine to her and bosh,a fan was born.
Anyway, hope the madams do it but I fear they won't have enough to get past SU.

The pub with the mural of Raich Carter (1937 FA Cup winning captain) in the opening credits of STID is literally around the corner from wor hoose.

It's closed down and full of asylum seekers now.

The pub, i mean. Not wor hoose.

I thought he had too, Manuel but he (Peter Farrer) is still alive. One of the other fans that featured in that series, Ian Wake, died in March 2023.

I think he bought the farm. I really liked the show too.

Sunderland was one of my very first away games, maybe 84, saw John Lyall outside and he gave me and me mate two free seats. (well tickets, not actual seats).

Hope they do it today.
