Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Agree.

What's the point of Ramsdale?  Was binned by Arsenal as not good enough with the ball at his feet.  We have one of those in Areola already.

At best he'd bring a 'voice' into the backline as Areola is clearly far too quiet.

Given Areola is on 120k per week, I'll be mindblown if we opt for another frontline keeper....we can't really sensibly have two keeper on a combined 200k in the squad.

More likely....a punt on a keeper on much lower wages as 2nd in line, who is more comfortable on the ball and could take Areola's spot by end of next season (when he's got one year left on his deal and might be easier to shift).

Apparently Fabianski wants to retire and have a break before doing some coaching....so extending him wasn't really an option.

If we do sign him up lively, will you and Scorchio change your knickers for boxers?

He was just signed to be the home-grown 3rd choice who trains with the team and who never gets a game, unless an injury-crisis/suspensions.
All correct, but we can't sell him before getting a better keeper, because then our backup to Areola is a youth and we can't buy the better one first because then we'd have too many. Nobody is going to accept a deal for their goalie on a cash plus Foderingham basis so we should ust forget all about the GK position for this window.

Our transfer funds are meant to be limited.

Strengthening our reserve GOALTENDER is well down on my list of priorities.

We have Areola first choice, Foderingham second choice and Hegyi third,we definitely have more pressing issues to address than signing another goalkeeper.

Forget his few games for Liverpool, I could keep for them in most games.

Honky on here is a Paddy, and I think he said he's been ropey for Ireland when he's played.

He's one of them that he's rated by people who haven't seen him much, just because he's at Liverpool. Why are people getting so worked up by this ffs

Brentford have moved quickly as their regular keeper Flekken is going to Bayer Leverkusen for £8m
Given we know half a dozen players or more are going & have known that for ages then you’d hope we had deals in place

So it's £18m then.
No, that depends on whether he and the club meet ALL the requisite performance related targets. Do try to keep up

Some think he's shit, some think he's not. Time will tell.

But to suggest that he hasn't been under any pressure despite playing a bundle of games in a title winning year for Liverpool is moronic

Not sure if Kelleher is any improvement over Areola.

I'm not a fan at all of gushing over if a keeper can play it out from the back.  For me, Areola is very good at what a goalkeeper should be good at.

He's going for £18m, I believe.

Think he's massively overrated tbh. I can see him being exposed next season when playing every week.

Areola played 25 games this season and he does not fill you with confidence.
Kellher played 18 games for Liverpool this season and they've been very happy with him as back-up.

I personally think he would be an ideal GK for 12.5m and we've missed a trick here.

We aren't going to find much better for anything around that price.

I don't rate him at all, he may have looked competent at the victims, but swap our team for theirs including VVD for Kilman.... He won't know wtf has hit him.

Trafford when he moved to Burnley far less experience went for more than that.

If we want a keeper and are a bit strapped for cash, not sure you'll find a better deal then Kellerher.
There's no comparison with Trafford. Trafford was 20, had 100 games and was battle hardened when he went to Burnley.

Kellerher is 26 and never faced any pressure except splinters. They'll be buying again in January.
Trafford was a complete disaster in the premier league. Kelleher like i said has always seem to handle himself alright when he has played.
