Re: Potter Out
I think Moyes for the first season or so was happy just to have a decent job and would largely go along with it. There definitely started to be friction after a little while. It was obvious that he wouldn't use the players he hadn't himself wanted and acquired unless he absolutely had to. (Benrahma springs to mind, Scamacca as well)

Re: Potter Out
What we obviously need is someone who can work with Sullivan and Brady. Good luck with that. The closest we've come is Moyes. The reason it is so difficult to achieve is the fact that the ultimate decision on appointments comes down to Sullivan. In most walks of life a competent manager when faced with an incompetent director would walk. However, Prem League managers are paid way too much to walk. Relegation battle on the cards next season.

Re: Potter Out
Something like 13 consecutively seasons back in the Premier League raking in money left and right during that time, spent numerous occasions in europe culminating in winning a trophy and our expectations now are to just break in to the top half of the table. Yep, something has definitely gone very wrong here.
Re: Potter Out
It’s rather silly of us to expect Potter to exhibit qualities managing us that he did not really display at Brighton and certainly did not at Chelsea.
If Potter makes us a top half of the table team, and a positive goal difference would be a requirement, he would actually be exceeding reasonable expectations and counter to his previous performances.

Re: Potter Out
Potter may well be good at working with average players and the odd flair player and building a system that works with them but I'm yet to be convinced he can build and play a side which includes strong personalities and genuine talent that only shines in certain setups. He was a huge flop at Chelsea and much like how West Ham did very little when he came in, the same happened at Chelsea. Bland, disjointed displays where it was a struggle to see how they were trying to play or how it was getting the best out of the players.
For me he is a manager that will give you a mid to low table side on a cheaper budget. Do what the Wolves, Brentfords and Brightons have done and sell players every year for big money. Selling a few top players for good money to rivals or overseas whilst staying in the Premier League will make Sullivan and his entourage happy.
So far I've not seen great man-management or tactical genius. The pressure will be on early in the season when he has had a chance to bring in his own players but with some of the core moving on that is going to leave a void in the dressing room. Big challenge and currently find it difficult to get excited about a new season with players leaving and the crap served up over the past few months.

Was anyone interested in him instead of Potter!?Definitely have him over Potter. He knows what the Club is about, believes in youth and would unite most of the fanbase I suspect which I think the Club is badly crying out for, now more than ever. I can't see him doing a worse job than Potter. If the choice is between Potter and Carrick, it's Carrick all day every day for me.But you'd have Loppy other both of course. Carrick would unite most of the fan base?? Hahahaha.
I couldn't give two fucks about Carrick, knows what the club is about? Is that why he left for Spurs?
...And Billy Bonds managed Millwall.

Re: Potter Out
He managed to turn around a poor season into finishing 4th and narrowly missing out on a Playoff Final I his 1st season there having taken them over 1 point and 1 place above the relegation zone, then every since then Boro had been selling their best players.
