Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

As long as Ward-Prowse goes, I'll take the more dynamic, year younger Brownhill

Brownhill ain't exciting and won't be starting but if you can't see that this is a relatively shrewd move for zero pounds then there's probably no hope for you. Probably the same people that hated Dawson. Scores goals, can put it about a bit, can get up and down and is a trier. This combination of characteristics don't exist in any other player in our current squad. He's an insurance signing, for when the players from the continent that you've never heard of (but you automatically think are better because you can't pronounce them) either dont work out or take a while to get up to Prem speed - Brownhill can step in and fill the gap. An added bonus is that he actually wants to play for us - dont underestimate what a rarity that's going to be this summer either.

Josh Brownhill will be to our midfield what Kilman is to our defence. Add an equally poor GK and striker and we will have the spine of a bottom half championship side.

It’s the disappointment that despite already having had a squad full of older players on the decline with zero resale value at all, we are still looking at players on the downside of their career rather than the upside.

At least this deal won’t be expensive and there’s no transfer fee so we won’t be paying for it financially for ages like Kilman. One deal in isolation does not make a transfer window so as long as we do add a lot of youth and some big future potential rather than journeymen it won’t be so bad.

I find it hard to believe Burnley are going to let Brownhill just walk away having just been promoted. Everton are also in for him so if we want him we better not fuck around

Well should that happen then fingers crossed Brownhill doesn't have a 3rd relegation to add to his C.V. and we qualify once again for Europe unlike thay other useless clogger.

So 18 goals (3 by way of penalties) in the Championship is superb but Soucek who produced 9 goals in the Premier League in a poor performing Team is considered to be a useless snail who you'd rather replace in the Squad with Brownhill.

From a Burnley fan, reckons he was wasted in the Prem being one of the sitting midfielders, been a revelation since he was played further up the pitch, not amazing technically but a very good finisher (18 goals at that level is superb) biggest thing though he is excellent in the fancy new 'high press', harries defenders and is a lot quicker than you'd expect.

So, as Sir Alf has been at pains to point out we're lacking, he has bundles of energy, pacey enough, doesn't stop running, and apparently a very good character, of which we've lost 4 of this summer.

Not exactly buzzing with the signing, but on a free, given he will give us some of what we have badly lacked, I'll give him a chance. Hopefully surprises us.

We simply can't fuck around if we want to avoid the drop next season. Yes, we have cut some the dead wood and ageing players but that 'Confirmed In' column needs to fill in and with the right players (i.e. not washed up 30 somethings on loan deals or a taped-up veteran Antonio coming back in)

We will lose Kudus, we will lose Paqueta one way or another, we could lose Bowen and its hard to see us attracting top class  players because we'll never be able to match their ambition. I don't have a good feeling about any of this, especially with Sullivan pulling the strings.

looks like the midget is in controlled demolition mode. not sure what he thinks he's doing persevering with this anti football coach, and the shit players we're being linked to. does he really have the stomach for more aggravation from the fan base? I'm all for it, if the ones going lose the plot and target that fucking cսnt and his understudy but I fear they already think they've won given the apathy from the ones still going

Hopefully. If he’s on the bench on opening day then fine. If he’s starting in central midfield, then we likely have a big struggle upcoming next season.

He'll effectively be replacing that donkey Rodriguez in the side and keep Andy Irving from ever getting a look in.

Good innit. Linked with all these young players from across Europe with exciting potential and we end up with an out of contract almost 30 year old. I suppose at least he won’t be on massive wages if you’re looking for positives.

I guess we do need a squad rather than just 11 players but if this is the extent of our true ambitions under Sullivan then it is going to be another long season.

Well the clue would be in the phrase ‘Sullivan is pushing Potter to…’
So I’d say if there’s truth in the report then yes it’s a Sullivan buy. It also fits the template of what Sullivan is drawn to.

It would certainly be a mark up in standards what with Brownhills 2-time relegations whilst contributing to just 12 goals in the Premier League by the same age this year. Sign him up!
