I saw the tail section was wedged into a building, so at least they would have recovered the boxes straight away. Shouldn't take long to identify the cause.

If you were going to choose a building to crash into, it would be a building full of doctors like they did.  Just not at that speed.

From the video, I suspect a total power failure. The 787 should be able to fly on one engine once airborne, albeit making it a bit difficult to keep in a straight line. Then it would be a case of circling to dump enough fuel to be then able to land safely

Couldn't see any suggestion of a bird strike and a terrorist attack would require someone with a pretty sophisticated knowledge of a 787's systems.

Me? I'm nailing the blame on some selfish cսnt refusing to turn their smartphone off  and making a call during take-off.

In that case I'm pretty sure that an up to date airplane like a Boeing 787 will sound all kinds of alarms if they attempt to take off with incorrectly set flaps? Happy to be corrected on that though.

Expert opinion based on the video of it going down - apparently you can't see them which means they were wrong. BBC have also had someone on that said that it the flaps are hard to see on the 787, so it might not be correct.

Surely in this day and age they wouldn't have taken off without the correct flap settings, unless there was a total engine failure.

didn't look like anything terror related, it just slowly lost height with it's nose up so looks like a stall or loss of power
