Job Interviews on a Saturday

Post Pub Bigot »

I’ve applied for a few new roles recently, one being a Consultancy firm delivering GenAI tools. I’ve spoken to the recruiter and based on my CV and experience they’re keen to interview me, which I suppose is a good thing. However they have tried to set an interview up over the weekend! I’ve never known a Consultancy to attempt to interview someone on Saturday and I think it’s a bit of a red flag about their culture/organisation. They’ve since agreed a midweek interview which is fine, but I’m going to use the interview as practice, as I’m not desperate for a new role and putting the feelers out.

Sayers, Savants, and Silly buggers of WHO, thoughts?

PS I did wipe my knob in my CV which I’m reliably informed was seen as showing initiative.

Had this today, went rather well. The interviewer wasn’t a salesman and answered my questions, especially about their reviews on Glassdoor and the Saturday interview. Came across as a nice honest bloke.

The weekend interview was an offer because they’re eager to find to get expertise for a client ASAP, but it’s a no-go anyway for me as my notice is several months longer than they’re able to wait.

But at least it gives you the opportunity to get the badge in and wear your Stone Island gear..... For when you have a job interview at midday and Millwall away at 3pm.
I think you’ve woken up in a parallel universe, Russ. In my universe we still play in the Premier League and Millwall definitely haven’t been promoted. I also don’t own any Stone Island. The most expensive brand in my clothing collection is Next!

Winning post.

Never thought of that so I’ve applied for a role as a refuse technician.

I’m hoping my growing knowledge in AI delivery leads me to have that luxury. Move me and the Mrs abroad somewhere and work remotely. I’ve started looking at Thailand. We visited there for our honeymoon and we’ve been back twice since then, so a viable option.
Thailand has finally worked out that remote workers are actually very good for the economy and set up a new visa just for such people. An interest in ladyboys is not mandatory.

I'd have gone for one but I've actually had enough prostituting myself around the telecoms market and so went for the bog-standard retirement visa, instead, but even that is an expensive ball-ache for fuck all.
Least you're honest and as I've stated before you and all trannies are mentally ill
Clearly today you haven't taken the medication
Ah, so, you've stated it, have you? YOU'VE stated it. YOU!

Is something automatically true then, because you've stated it? I'm thinking especially about what you proudly stated about your activities in SE Asia while trying to ingratiate yourself with the night crew.

Coming from a very conservative employment background (small c), I have never heard of anything like this.

Perhaps times have changed (highly likely) and this is normal nowadays but if so I am delighted that I have left all this far behind me for freelance work that fits 100% around me.

It goes both ways. To me it’s not practice I’m familiar with and if the company isn’t happy with my refusal to interview on a weekend, we can both politely look elsewhere.

The role is remote. I’m remote now and have zero interest in ever committing regularly again, and haven’t done so since 2017!
That may answer the question. It would be harmless to gently enquire as to the reason they do interviews on a Saturday. If they say, "have to work weekends to keep on top of things" then you can give them a swerve.
