WHO Question: Likes vs Reactions (and the C**T Button)

Post stubbo-admin »

So I've found a way I 'could' replace 'likes' with a 'reactions' feature, that would work in a very similar way (two taps/clicks rather than one....select to react, select reaction), but add some extra 'response options' to posts.

Would likely just be (though this is flexible):

- Like (Thumbs Up)
- Dislike (Thumbs Down)
- You cսnt (cսnt badge)

You'd then get a 'profile rating' based on how much the community thinks you're a bit of a cսnt that builds up over time (+2 for each you cսnt, +1 for Dislike, -1 for Like)

Feels quite 'WHO'.

Downside is existing like status/stats would go away.

Let me know in the poll above if you'd like a switch to this, or to leave it as it is.

A few images below to explain the concept (ignore the colours ..that's just a test site):

I reckon everyone who's voted for the cսnt button is a bit of a cսnt.

H&P would be indulging in almost Tower Hamlets level of multiple-voting in its favour.

What about a WHOicide button?

And in honour of Manuel, you need to press it about 10 times before it works 🤣😎, meanwhile in your bio, profile or whatever it's called it says how many "attempts" you have made, when you get to 10 however your deregistered from the site.

😁

Thanks all for the feedback.

Given the comments, but also that the vote above is largely in favour what I may look to do is:

1. Trial it in the Off Topic forum (and leave regular likes in the Football forum) for a while
2. Disable the 'Score recording' in the Profile, so it only carries any relevance at the thread/post level and not beyond that.
3. Trial without the 'dislike' option so this is still handled via replaying to the orignal with a different point of view and not just a reaction (and promotes engagement/discussion)
4. Monitor to see if it adds humour/avoids some of the bickering, or if it gets 'weaponised'.

Can then either leave the options split by Forum, or take further feedback and consider one option or another for both forums in time,

Stubbo.

Will there be a 'cսnt of the year' awarded to the biggest cսnt at the end a season?
Might be an incentive for some to post more if cսnt points are on the table?🤣🤣🤣

Sorry, but the idea of having a Cuntishness barometer is fucking awful. This would just encourage the people we're already sick to death of, because it feeds their ego. They'll be worse than ever, desperate to be crowned biggest cսnt on WHO.

A dislike button is good, but not as a method of judging people's overall popularity. Again, that sort of thing just feeds the trolls. I think it would be better to just have individual posts be liked/disliked with no counter, and the only point to that in the first place is so that people can express agreement/disagreement with a post without replying with something that adds fuck all to the discussion (or descends into an irrelevant argument).

I agree it is quite WHO. Although we are going against the conventional social media practice of incentivising engagement. As if one is a bit of cսnt and getting a reputation for being so, the said cսnt is not getting rewarded for engaging with WHOers and is incentivised to engage less to stop the cսnt score incrementing any further.

That might strike you as a desired outcome, but what if we are all cunts? People will just stop posting and that will be the end.

Don’t think any of it is necessary TBH. Dislikes and a cսnt button will just be weaponised and start arguments and I don’t know how many people will care or pay any attention after a few days of hammering it at every post aside from at the obvious target posters.

The like is decent because you can use it just to agree with a point instead of spamming with ‘yup I agree’ with nothing else to add. If you really disagree with something you’re going to say it anyway so a dislike button feels redundant apart from for passive aggressive trolling of people.

Don’t waste time piss balling about with a profanity option instead address this Board’s real and most significant issue which concerns the freedom to endlessly bicker.

How would you address it without having a dedicated moderation team that is forever online and observant, and also without turning into KUMB?

Genuine question.

EDIT: have created a 'sewer' thread to dump this kind of stuff in. We'll see if that gains any traction.

Sounds like fun. Playground level fun.

Probably need one more displayable stat, though:

"Number of Posters called a cսnt", with a big, shiny gold star for whoever tops that particular list.

Likes are fucking gay and for desperate attention seekers like Massive Kumbreject.

Dislikes are joyo levels of 100 % straight but secretly respressing constant homo nonce urges levels of gay.

If you need to be told you're a cսnt you're actually just a fanny full of sand.
