Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

There is absolutely nobody in football who respects our diminutive chairman and his performative feminist sidekick...

As soon as they clock his methods it's a case of put on your tin hat and wait for the redundancy payoff and if you can get away with the odd backhander at his expense then...so be it.

It's a MENTAL situation

Emerson. How long until the board (or it's mouthpiece) claim "We tried to keep him..."?

Still is a decent player, won't find it easy to replace him. I quite liked the idea of him battling it out with Scarles down the left.

Who we linked with for his position?

Where’s he going?
Don't worry, nowhere in Ireland thank god.
Or worse, it could be Austria and I’d have to spend hours explaining that although it sounds like Australia it’s a completely different country.

Emerson rumoured to be going to Lazio
Interesting as a former Roma player
Article I was reading said there was interest in him & Potter will allow him to leave
Was supposed to be leaving last summer & wasn’t the same player last season

Hmmm.

OK, a potentially mildly amusing start to next season:

Potter absolutely refuses to include in the squad any players Sullivan has bombed on him and uses (what is left of) this season's academy players instead.

Would fully expect Sullivan to clear out the whole youth of this year's sector to ensure that can't happen..

Money gets Tight.
The SHIT gets Real.!

Fortunately. Or unfortunately. (Depending on how you view ownership.?) The people at the top are having to show their cards.

Real shame.....

I'm making the point that we do a poor job of recruiting players. The size of amortisation impact will be driven by the size of the fees we pay (and the length of the contract).

we also dont have the overheads of running a football stadium, so you can say the move to the new stadium was the right thing to do (financially).

As long as you don't buy any players.

Anyway, it is rare for any club to have negative EBITDA. West Ham aren't an exception as you suggested.

It’s part of player trading, not a reflection of day to day running of the club.

So, you agree. An operating loss of 30 million.

Almost every club has a positive EBITDA. Ridiculous to exclude player amortisation when analysing football club accounts

I'm not.
EBITDA of £55m
less player amortisation of £(83)m
depreciation of £(2)m

gets you an operating profit of £(30)m

profit on players £96m

gets you £65m profit before tax/interest.

the EBIDTA reflects profit outside of player amortisation and profit on sales.

the loss was driven by player trading.
outside of player trading we made a profit.

the issue is our player trading............ we're not very good at it.

West Ham made a 30 million operating loss in the last financial accounts.

The move from Upton Park to Stratford only earned approx 10 million in the first season. Revenues have since increased in line with a general uplift in EPL

My feelings entirely.

If you buy a football club then every process within it has to be hugely improved or what is the actual point?

They have a bigger stadium which has almost doubled the revenue but we're stuck with an inefficient, crusty old dinosaur who still manages it like when he bought Birmingham City over 30 years ago.

it's run like his own personal fiefdom - dictator style.

It ain't getting any better, don't hope for it or expect it to happen even if you're an eternal optimist...there is no plan in place other than his own  exclusive mindset.

We're well and truly fucked.
