Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

He has done that for the 15 years he’s been at the club. A thinly veiled way to not get the managers targets because he does not raye them ( eg not experienced Prem players, not played for a big club and most importantly not via his agent contacts ).  The claim will be that club was too hard to deal with, agents want too much or too many involved etc and as I thought all along nothing much will happen until August possible last 2 weeks of window. Sales hopefully in and keaving it late will conveniently leave us scramblimg so that Sullivan can save the day bringing in someone thru his 1980/90s process of contacts and kick backs.  This is groundhog day yet again.  Sullivan is a narcissist. He has to be seen to be the saviour and / or man that gets things done. Irony being that this action is key to him being reviled by the fanbase.

Arnautovic - £20mil
Felipe Anderson - £40mil
Haller - £45mil
Kilman - £40mil
Zouma  -£30mil
Aguerd - 30mil
JWP - £30mil

All players that managers wanted, who we massively overpaid for to get (maybe Arnautovic aside, although only eventually)

The problem hasn't been derisory bids or not backing the manager, it's the opposite, the problem has been lack of foresight and proper planning over the years, but at least get it right if you're going to CONSTANTLY drone on about the same thing for fuck sake.

Would be ironic if it’s Potter asking about him as all the details have Sullivan written all over them.

I'll give you 200,000 reasons why we won't be signing him.

He's currently on that, pounds per week.

"Levy, the Glazers and Ratcliffe get a lot of high profile stick, but Sullivan somehow consistently manages not to while arguably doing a far worse job."

With links to his previous business empire, he may well have a lot of skeletons in a lot of media closets dissuading any significant criticism from gaining the public exposure needed.

Depressing.  Unfortunately the social media do not hammer Sullivan hard enough either. The whole blaming of Steiden and undermining of most managers or simply shoddy handling of everything.   We just have to hope we see the end of his control sooner than later.  Its been 15 years of pain after Brown, Chapman, The Cearns going back to WW2.  One set of greedy, self interest, selfish, self absorbed owners after another.  It does make you feel we are cursed. Not one owner has ever got close to realising the potential of the club. Not one period or era of sustained success.  Even the Lyall / Greenwood years of cup success, we were largely crap in the league.
He doesn't have the same excuse as the Icelandics, Brown, Cearns/Chapman and so forth. They were incompetent but in a different way either through being far too prudent and tightfisted or recklessly stupid when they had a bit of wedge to blow. Telling Jack Petchley to do one was a massive mistake as well.

Never have our attendances been so high and never has the premiership TV incomes been so lucrative - the problem is Sullivan and the way he operates the football side of the club. There is no excuse now, the budget the club has to lay down foundations and get things done properly is astronomical compared to all our previous owners. The portakabin gym facility at the training ground is another complete pisstake. Really?

Pellegrini was most certainly shell-shocked when he first clocked it. He probably expected a half decent facility without having to viddy it beforehand. He would NOT not have expected something so half-arsed that he would have seen back in his playing days in 70's Chile - dictatorship and all! I have no doubt that he wouldn't have taken the job if he'd seen that shitshow before he signed the contract in the tacky mansion.

It's pathetic and beyond the pale and repeated and infinitum regardless of the manager it happens to be.

What a shocker. It's not like we've all been predicting it for months that he's going to as usual absolutely cut the manager and head of recruitement's nuts off at his whims. This is why we'll never ever have any lasting success with the dino dwarf running anything on the football side. We'll never build anything long term or sustainable.

Levy, the Glazers and Ratcliffe get a lot of high profile stick, but Sullivan somehow consistently manages not to while arguably doing a far worse job.

I probably read the same thing as eusobovic that Real are looking for an old school centre forward as a bench alternative with Joselu leaving
Fullkrug has bench experience! Can’t imagine he’d turn down the chance to watch Real play while getting paid

Watched the Germany Italy u21s yesterday.

Best player was Nick Woltemade. 6 ft 5 inch forward but surprisingly quick and agile. Bit of an Isak about him.

Had a decent season at Stuttgart.

Would be a great signing. Apparently Moyes wants him at Everton.

Getting Fullkrug off our books would be decent.

Even if it means we'll take a PSR hit on him.  I really don't fancy paying him for another 3 years.

Read that this morning too but can't seriously believe they would be after him.

I don't actually think it would make a big difference if he stays or goes - we must hold the record for the amount of money spent on strikers who just sit on the bench because none of our managers ever know how to play a formation with a striker.
Or because he's injury prone, too scared to play him.

They'll be some movement this week because of PSR, won't there?

It probably won't be us, as I doubt Sullivan is too savvy when it comes to playing the game with PSR.

Indeed.

Stroeykens is 20 years old. Box to box midfielder, good creativity, loads of energy and valued at £20m. Anderlecht have failed to tie the kid down and so what does Sullivan do? Offer them £8.5m.

Boom. We're off.

And this comes after the recent recruitment message out of the club that Potter and Macauley are looking to revamp the squad with "young, hungry and dynamic players". Obviously what it should've said is "young, hungry and dynamic players, at half of what they are valued at".

It doesn't surprise me at all...

I guess they see Fullkrug as another Joselu who did very well for them as a veteran supersub off the bench a couple of seasons ago.

They always seem to have a player like that but last season they didn't have one and it showed.
